The Ghost of Us

I hear your name in the quiet,
like an echo that never fades,
a whisper in the midnight air,
a ghost in the life we made.

Your touch still lingers on my skin,
like summer’s warmth in winter’s chill.
I trace the places where you’ve been,
but find them empty, quiet, still.

I loved you in a way that burned,
a fire too wild to last—
now all that’s left are ashes,
scattered pieces of our past.

I reach for you in crowded rooms,
in laughter, in songs, in rain,
but all I find is emptiness,
the weight of love turned pain.

And though the world keeps turning,
though time may mend and heal,
some love is never truly lost,
just buried, but still real.
