Sunset has always been my favourite time of the day. Let me paint it the way I see it |
Like a painting in the work the sky shifts colors The once clear, bold blue is now fading , as waves of orange, pink and purple come washing over . The sun , once powerful, fearless is slowly sinking into the horizon, growing dimmer as it lingers, unsure and unwilling to leave As if wanting to take one last look , feeling guilty for taking its warmth away. And like a silent goodbye, the world goes quiet for a moment. As you're observing this scene unfolding, as the sun's light being taken away, The light that testifies the life you had while it was shining on you A gentle breeze brushes your skin It got you shivering The feeling you get at the ending scene of a movie . Amidst this silence , you hear the faint chirping of birds , before they retreat to their nests , as if they were your audience, as if telling you "You did well, it's over now. Let's go home and take a rest " And they find their way through the trees The trees that are being played by the wind, making a *hush* sound " hush...she needs it" Your eyes, your ears , your skin , your soul. They all take in the scene surrounding you as you keep walking. Your day is being celebrated You're being escorted by nature This silence , these whispers Hours ago they would've beeen suffocating , scary But now ? They're gentle, they're what you need ,they're warm even though it's chilly . This is my moment I can breathe Almost like the feeling of freedom, I can own this The day is ending I look up and I see a star, two , three .. I don't have to work hard anymore It's time for my mind , heart and soul to take a rest It's time to dream The birds are gone The trees, forever the motherly love , now their hushing is like lullaby Another shade of blue comes visiting , covering the pastel colors that accompanied that brief moment of spiritual warmth Now, a deep blue canvas, splashed with stars, cuddles the moon. It's quiet, and I'm free And so I smile And the sun is gone ...Curtain call |
