A trail of candy corn led into the woods. |
| A cooking contest on TV called for a special recipe- For Halloween, contestants would make A savory casserole from a cake. It would be like Thanksgiving turned on end; like apple gummy worms making pretend As green beans, and graham crackers ground Acting like bread crumbs on the gummy worm mound. The recipe assigned to me Was a creamed corn casserole, hot and salty, With yellow cake and candy corn And vanilla icing plastered on. The cake came out melted and dry And the judges gave me one more try. Into the woods I fled to make Some secret creative no-bake cake. My 100 ounce huge bag of candy corn Had a hole in the bottom, and a trail was born, Into the woods, where I worked with Cool Whip, Oreos, (candy corn) & chocolate strawberry dip. I accepted my prize in an orange/brown dress And I named my concoction the Sugary Mess. As a fellow awardee, I’m happy to name one who followed the candy corn trail for this game. |
