Thanksgiving Dream

Lots of pecan pie, maybe some flag football.

Whoever saw
so many leftovers
Generated solely because
We ate too much pie
And very little else…
Cranberry jelly by the gallon
And vats of mashed potatoes
Covered by tinfoil in the fridge
And only crumbs left
Of the tasty pecan pie.
If indeed Grammy lost her dentures
It must have been in the flag football game
And they flew out when she tackled aunty
To punish her for making too many
lumpy mashed potatoes
Or was that just something I dreamed
When I fell asleep at the table?
