"If I Were a Snowflake"

If I Were a Snowflake


If I were a snowflake,
I'd be a pointed hexagon,
I'd be green instead of white:
I'd be a phenomenon!

I'd be the one who sticks out plain;
the one to draw your eye.
I'd also be the one who knows
that green snowflakes never die!

I'd call all my buddies,
who'd come from hither and yon--
And soon that yard would look just like
you need to mow your lawn!

But I'm not a hexagon,
nor a dream from which you can't awake.
I'm just me and that's enough! For
I am no snowflake!
