If I

If I saw your shadow
cast across a wall,
I would know it was you.

If I heard footsteps
down an unknown hall,
I would know it was you.

If I felt a touch,
anywhere at all,
I would know it was you.

If I heard a sob,
somewhere in the distance,
I would know it was you.

If I saw an empty space,
where someone had just been,
I would know it was you.

If I was in heaven,
and I saw an angel,
I would know it was you.

If ever we are not together,
and I am lonely and sad,
I would know it is you,
that can change it all.
