bi-polar vs. adhd: children being misdiagnosed. |
A little girl, with a spit curl, the apple of her mothers eye, not knowing so young, her daughter would be destined to forever cry. An extremely excited special toddler birthday girl was she, happy, radiant she seemed all to be, but 1 present she didn't ask for turned into a disruptive war, making the gift givers wonder what the heck did I bother coming for? There would be many more grim moments to come, at the beach, friends houses, even preschool during activities and fun. When teachers became aware that this sweet toddler could induce even adult fear. It was more than the public school system would bear. They labeled my child ADHD, because they were afraid to say otherwise. Until mom "exasperated" said wait! I see differently through my daughters eyes. Yes, she'll need help, probably meds, but for Gods sake don't count her below all the other children's heads. My daughter, now in counseling for 3 years, and on the right medication for her diagnosis. ADHD was not on her plate, but bipolar is her life long fate. She is now loving, caring, a sensitive child thanks to a parent's persistence who did not let the system go wild. If this sounds like your child, stay persistent, and never let anyone stop you from going the distance. Patience is a virtue and a quiet blessing from God. No one sees the problems of a child, but through a mother's loving eyes. ** Image ID #429608 Unavailable ** |
