Who among us can envision heaven?
Well, we all have our own thoughts.
But to take these thoughts,
Give life to vision…
A mortal soul to paint the undying?
The pearly gate, a prophet's eyes,
Or the fading wings, against night skies...
Christian murals embrace the churches,
Giving comfort to the believer,
As sunlight shines through stained glass windows,
And fuel imagination.
But who can imagine the messengers of heaven;
The angels of gleaming robes alight?
Religious painters paint with love,
Depictions of what they hold divine.
Making saints alive once more,
If indeed we ever let them die.
But which of us has eyes to view God?
None.
No one knows.
No one sees,
The real truth.
And that’s exactly how it should be.
They see their dream, they dream their vision,
Then they move it
Into our world.
And late at night, before dawn’s light,
An inspired hand is moving,
Its brush stroking stone or canvas,
And slowly creating paradise.
