ANGEL WARRIORS - BK ONE: EARTHBOUND

Chapters from my original fantasy/action-adventure based on the Biblical Angel Warriors commanded by Archangel Michael. The story is told mostly from the POV of Michael's Second-in-Command, Angel Warrior Mihdael. ANGEL WARRIORS is a trilogy, and Book 1 is represented here.

SYNOPSIS


Created several centuries after the original Hosts of Heaven, Angel Warrior Mihdael possesses great knowledge and greater power. Yet neither can bring him what he desires, and he strives to attain self-understanding, learn the truth about his creation, and be reunited with his wife, Elena Ravenel.


The youngest angel in Heaven, Mihdael is inquisitive, resourceful, and inventive. He tests the limits of everything from the physical laws of Eden to his Commander’s patience, and usually exceeds those limits. As Archangel Michael’s Second-in-Command, Mihdael’s zest for life and adventurous nature injects an enthusiastic drive into the staid Army, and is welcomed heartily by the other warriors, if not by the Army’s Commander. Defender of Mankind and Earth, Mihdael is curious about all aspects of humanity. In an attempt to better understand humans and their motivations, he lives as a human for 200 years, meets, falls in love with and marries a lady of the 14th century, Lady Elena Ravenel. Returning to Earth in the late 20th Century, he learns to his dismay that people, ideas, and faith have changed.


Pride threatens to cause his downfall. Defying God when Elena is taken from him, Mihdael is an outcast from the Hierarchy, and he endeavors for many centuries to regain his office, title, and rank. Failure means separation from God and, in turn, Elena, forever.


Mihdael’s relationship with Michael and Lucifer is a source of constant conflict. Created with aspects of both Michael and Lucifer, he battles an internal and external contradiction of his nature and perceptions. The Army is charged with the defense of Heaven and Earth against Satan and Lucifer, and the incursions of demons that seek Heaven’s destruction. Lucifer is determined to bring Mihdael down, and Michael is just as determined to prove Mihdael’s disloyalty and complicity with Lucifer during the War in Heaven. Only God’s continued faith in him gives Mihdael the spiritual and physical strength to prove his innocence, and impedes Lucifer’s attempts to corrupt him.


The Angel Warriors of Heaven is a trilogy following Mihdael from creation to maturity as an aware, intelligent being.

Book One–EarthBound represents Mihdael’s ‘childhood’, his creation from a naïve angel to a seasoned warrior; he discovers his own faults and failings, and endeavors to understand the world around him.

Book Two–HellBound signifies Mihdael’s ‘teenage’ years, his rebellious and questioning nature; he learns his limits and how to overcome temptation.

Book Three–HeavenBound symbolizes Mihdael’s maturity and sense of self as he attains his goals by adhering to his faith in God and belief in himself.
