I Am The Eagle

I wrote this in twenty minutes after hearing our president speak 9/12/01.

I AM THE EAGLE

         I am the Eagle
you destroy my perch
violate my nest.
You kill my children,
but make no mistake
despite my ruffled feathers
still, I soar high.

         My sight is keen
My hearing superb
My instincts intact
I fear not any storm
or calamity you create.

         You can not destroy me
nor my spirit
for I am the Eagle.

         From on high
I shall hunt you relentlessly
you the cowards
who dare molest my nest,
and take the lives of innocents,
be assured there is no escaping my wrath.

         Ultimately I will find you
my talons shall sink deep into you
deep into those who give you refuge.

         For I remain supreme
the Eagle
a nation under God
protector of freedom
defender of the oppressed.

         Fools, idiots, mad men of the world
take heed,
you make a fatal mistake
when you set about to harm my children
or violate my nest.
