Its about a princess promised to a man she never met. This is a work in progress.
Hey everyone. Thanks for tuning in to my story. Unfortunatly its still a work in progress so one week you could be reading one bit, and the next that one bit could be obliterated or added to. Sorry for any inconveniences. I hope you enjoy my story

‘But mother,’ I said. ‘I don’t want to go. I’m not well.’

‘I know dear, but your father wishes to show you off to the other kings. You know that.’ She sighed and got a beautiful dress out of my closet. ‘This one looks wonderful on you dear, you can wear this. I don’t know why you don’t wear it more often.’

‘Don’t you mean that father just wants to get rid of me?’ I replied gloomily. ‘I don’t want to be courted mama. I’d have to leave you and Nita.’ At the sound of her name, my little fluffy white dog gave a little yelp.

‘Nonsense Lucille!’ My mother exclaimed. ‘Your father would never do such a thing to his only child!’

‘Yeah right,’ I muttered under my breath. ‘Maybe not yet.’

‘Pardon Luci?’ My mother asked distracted. ‘What did you say?’

‘I said alright I’ll go.’ I lied.

‘Good girl. Now where is Caroline?’

When she heard her summons, my servant Caroline, came quickly through the door, and bowed.

‘Caroline,’ I said sighing,’ How many times do I have to tell you, my mother and I do not wish for you to bow to us unless in public?’

‘I am sorry ma’am,’ she said, smiling slightly and straightening up. ‘It is a habit. Now Your Highness,’ she said turning to my mother, ‘What do you wish to be done?’

She smiled. ‘Well Caroline, you can get this rascal ready for public view.’

I grinned. ‘I’m going to a ball. But first, we have to change me into an ugly duckling, the carriage into a pumpkin, and the horses into mice!’ It was an old joke but it still made us all laugh.

‘Alright then Princess, I’ll go and heat the water for you to swim in, while the others catch the mice and harvest the pumpkin.’ She bowed again to my mother, who stood there smiling and holding my dress, and backed out of the room.

Such a nice girl that Caroline,’ my mother remarked. ‘When the kitchen staff get you and turn you into a nice banquet, I think I’ll have her as a replacement for you.’ She smiled. ‘How about that?’

‘You aren’t really going to tell the kitchen staff the truth about me mother?’ I asked in mock surprise. ‘Are you?’

‘Not yet my dear,’ she said with an evil grin on her face. ‘Not yet. First I have to find one stupid enough to believe me.’ She laid my dress flat down on my bed and her grin grew silly. But don’t worry Luci, I’ll find one soon enough.’ She walked to the door and opened it. ‘You have one and a half hours till the ball dear. Your father doesn’t want you to be late.’ And with that, she left the room.
