A poem abouth high school steryotypes |
Building up inside Like a shaken soda pop Emotions that run wild And thoughts that just won't stop Hidden layers of personality Shaded from your eyes Bitterness and misery Covered up by lies You think you have me pegged Like some stupid media cliche But I'm so much more than that And you'll realize that someday You label and taunt me Like I don't see past the jokes But I realize that your friendships Are nothing more than hoax Nerd, Prep, Goth, Punk I'm tired of this shit Have you forgotten we're all people? What is it you don't get? You see the senior vixen Walking down the hall I see a girl who can't escape Whose looks are her downfall You see the gothic freak Who just gets stoned all day I see a struggle against reality And someone with something to say You see the skateboard punk "He's a poser. He's so gay." Posers are just hidden people We're all posers in that way Why can't you see it? Are you really that blind? If you could just get past the exterior And get inside their mind You judge the world with pride Thoughtless to our lives In a world of bitter realities Can our souls survive? I'm a poet and I'm an author A man who values expression I'm an actor and a scholar That is my sole confession But all these things don't matter Because all that you just heard Is "This guy thinks he writes poetry, He must be such a nerd." ~Nick |
