Snippets

Writing is my spirit and refuge,
and soothes the anguished soul.
Just snippets of thought not a deluge
that seem to make life feel whole.

I cannot tell where it comes from
but I always know where it ends.
Hard for many and easy for some,
it's always been my true friend.

I'll sit and while-away the hours,
letting time roll on and on.
My gaze drifts to beautiful flowers,
words call to me from beyond.

Dreams will flow from pen and ink,
the days and nights will pass.
I'll think of things in an eyes' blink
and write them down to last.

When all my days have come and gone
and I've written my final line.
I'll realize what I've known all along,
life is but a snippet in time.
