a child's relationship with a tree and how the tree loved the boy unconditionally. When the boy was a child, he played with the tree. As the boy grew older, he left, and the tree was all alone. The tree loved the boy so much that when the boy grew up and was in need, the tree gave him all that it had and asked for nothing in return. The tree gave the boy its apples to sell for money, its branches to build a house, its trunk to build a boat, and when nothing was left, its stump for resting, "and the tree was happy".

the enjoyment I had from listening to the story being read to me as a child, and I loved the lesson I learned from it as an adult.

read it to my mother and explain to her how many times it had been read to me by my teachers in school and how I didn't understand the meaning till now...I finally read it to her, and after I did so and explained my thoughts to her, she cried.

lucky and blessed to have been born to a wonderful woman that I call mom.

was one of a kind and missed by all those who grew up with his work and admired his words.

it is a story that children will want to hear time and again, and it is a story that adults will want to share with others.
