Summary of this Book...
Two friends, Cathy Scarlet and Tom Feather, are making their dream come true by starting their own catering company. This book takes place over one year, a year which the characters pretty much see as 'make it or break it.' Intertwined with the success of the business are the complicated relationships with Cathy's husband, Tom's girlfriend, a couple of homeless children, a thieving cousin, stubborn mother in law, and so on. Binchy's talent in having a large cast of distinct but interrelated characters is well known. Scarlet Feather is an excellent exhibition of that talent, remaining believable while engrossing you completely. The portrayal of the people behind the scenes of the rich and famous is very entertaining. The message is also conveyed that the middle classes have a lot more fun than the upper. It's another stay-up-all-night-to-finish-it book from Binchy. Definitely recommended if you're in the mood to deal with someone else's problems, or just escape from your own.
