Summary of this Book...
There is a level a spiritual maturity which realizes humility is not a weakness, but a strength. Andrew Murray certainly addresses this, but goes far beyond by revealing humility in the light of God as the Creator and we as the created. This book is a life-changing jewel.
This type of Book is good for...
Spiritual understanding and instruction for a Christian. It may be beneficial to a non-Christian seeking to understand Christianity, but only to the most serious searcher of the truth.
I especially liked... | ||
The use of God's Word to demonstrate each point, the depth with which the topic was addressed, and the practical application offered the serious reader.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Release control of my life, give it all to the Lord, become void of all pride, and have joy in whatever God must do to help me grow in Him.
This Book made me feel...
VICTORIOUS! One of the immediate wonders was relief from years of heavy burdens as I relinguished the responsibility of each one to Him.
The author of this Book...
I understand Andrew Murray wrote many wonderful works in his day, but this was the first for my reading, and I'm only beginning to enjoy other insights by this former missionary to South Africa in the 1800's.
I recommend this Book because...
It changed my life more than any other book other than the Bible itself. It is incredible how Andrew Murray has used scripture, in context, to weave a fabric of truth which shows the most basic and fundamental virture a person can have -- humility.
Further Comments... | ||
This book should not be read half-heartedly. If read by a non-believer, a point of decision will require the reader to accept their sinful nature and the salvation God so freely offers, or they must reject God and the knowledge of themselves as the created. I suppose this may lead some to the Bible and salvation in Christ, but I suspect most non-believers would do better hearing a Biblical message geared specifically toward our need for salvation before getting into the depth of this book. After all, how can one understand a relationship they have not even begun to engage in? In addition, I would urge anyone, believer or non-believer, to read this book with a willingness to accept change. Rejection of truth is a dangerous thing, but the benefit of this truth is the opportunity for tremendous spiritual growth at a fundamental level! Read it! It will change your life!
