The first in a series, the reader meets Riley, her brother Shane and their dad who have moved from Portland, US to Scotland. They move into a draughty old inn where Riley is plagued immediately by a ghost, only, it's unlike one she's ever met and she is immediately intrigued. She begins to learn the story of Ian Mackinnon and his untimely death. As she unravels the mystery she must deal with her new life, the new people she has met who seem to be continually testing her and hiding her secret.

Young adults and anyone who likes to read supernatural horror.

It was a good read in which the relationship between Riley and Ian became palpable and had my hanging on the edge of my seat.

The narrative was good, the plot went at a good pace and the tension was rife.
