In a post-WWII world where Big Brother watches your every move and even the mere thought of dissension is punished with horrible torture and death, Winston Smith buys a diary. He begins keeping a record of his traitorous thoughts as a way to cope with the stress of living under Big Brother’s tyrannical rule -- but thoughts lead to actions, and before he knows it he is breaking more rules than is good for him. Staying alive grows more and more difficult as Winston comes even closer to taking positive action against Big Brother. Dodging the Thought Police becomes a matter of daily life, but even Winston’s greatest efforts are not enough to save him.
