Summary of this ...
Seven children who have next to nothing in common with each other come together in the summer of 1958 to fight against an evil that has fed on their town since it's founding.

Not only do they have to deal with local bullies, but their parents, their own mortality, and the unseen horror that shares their quiet little Maine town.

After defeating It, they all make a promise to return if It should ever come back. They all go on with their lives and forget that summer of their childhood.

In 1985 a string of child murders and disappearances heralds the return of It. The phonecalls are made and the friends are called back to face the nightmare they failed to vanquish in 1958.

The first time round they all survived. They all came away from that summer with scars, but they survived. Now they have been called back, will they all survive a second encounter?
This type of is good for...
Passing time on long journeys or for reading a chapter or two before bed - providing you are not someone who gets nightmares.
I especially liked...
Stephen King's sheer brilliance of bringing this town and its history to life. By the time you get to the end of the book, you will have lived through over two hundred years of the town's history and its citizens.

There are dozens of stories within stories within this novel, and King does an outstanding job of weaving hundreds of years of town history together.
I didn't like...
The only thing I don't like with this book is there is an unnecessary sex scene towards the end involving the children. This can easily be skipped over without spoiling the book or missing some important plot point.

The sex scene is sold in the story as being important, and there are a few cryptic references to it scattered throughout the novel, but it plays no significant part in my opinion.
When I finished n/a this I wanted to...
Find my DVD of the movie and burn it for the heresy that it is. The TV movie is a complete zero when compared to sheer brilliance that is the book.
The n/a of this ...
Stephen King was born on September 21, 1947, in Portland, Maine. He graduated from the University of Maine and later worked as a teacher while establishing himself as a writer. Having also published work under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, King's first horror novel, Carrie, was a huge success. Over the years, King has become known for titles that are both commercially successful and sometimes critically acclaimed. His books have sold more than 350 million copies worldwide and been adapted into numerous successful films.
I recommend this because...
This is a great book that really showcases Stephen King's talent. Whether you enjoy Stephen King's novels, horror novels, or just reading in general there is something in this novel for nearly everyone.
