It's summertime and three 12 year old boys come across a new Magic Store that not only offers tricks but also trains new magicians. They are immediately enthralled with the idea of learning more, gaining entrance into the magic vault, and deciding to enter a magic competition.

This is a great book for middle school youth.

Friends, family, and magic are a good combination and the author presents it in a way that readers this age will find interesting. There is an ease to the book with enough interest in the varying complexities of family and friends, jealousy, competition, perseverance, and lots of magic!

The author, Diana Lopez, did an excellent job of being able to establish a friendship story while intertwining the complexities of the three boys family dynamics along with their nerves, skills, and expenses of each boy to enter the competition. She did so in such a way that for the middle school level reader that is authentic for the age.

She included an abundance of magic procedures all throughout that might have readers trying on their own.

The author, Diana Lopez, presented my husband with an advanced copy telling him his magic shop was one source of inspiration for the book.(Yes, we have owned a Magic Shop for over 19 years)

This is a very easy to read youth book that includes all the right elements to make it interesting and also have good moral undertones without disrupting the flow and authenticity of the young characters. It's refreshing and contains lots and lots of magic!
