Summary of this Book...
This book is absolutely mesmerising. The author’s prose is rich and hypnotic. I got lost in this book, feeling the fear and seeing all the locations. The descriptions of war-torn cities and camps made me think about the kinds of conditions people are living in day after day. This book makes you see things a little mor clearly. In addition to the beautiful descriptions, the characters are fabulous. Kate is so intriguing. I’m always a fan of an unreliable narrator. Sally and Paul are brilliant.y written, also. Then, we have the plot. This book has so many layers. I can’t tell you how clever it is. There is Kate and Sally’s troubled childhood, Kate’s PTSD, Sally’s alcoholism, and the little boy in the house next door who no one but Kate can see. So much to become invested in. And I really did! Just one tiny niggle (that didn’t spoil my enjoyment whatsoever). I didn’t think the title really fit the plot.
