Summary of this Book...
This book (I have the physical copy) is an amazing autobiography of one of the greatest entertainers to ever live in this world: Michael Jackson. He covers a lot of his life leading up to the point of where he was at, which was on tour for his album "Bad". He went over his personal struggles, success, his dealings with his family, & how he got to where he was at that point in time. Over all, he expressed how how lived, ate, & breathed music. He literally was music in all aspects: From recording, songwriting, arranging, producing, composing, & performing music. He talks about the heavy demand of show business, & how enjoyed it. He also mentioned the struggles & sacrifices he made in order to become an amazing entertainer. It's a great book to read for someone who really wants to know & understand Michael Jackson in his own words.
This type of Book is good for...
This book is good for all music lovers. It's good for people who want to do music & understand what you need to do as a musician to succeed. It also gives you perspective to let you know that succeeding in music, like anything else, is no overnight success.
I especially liked...
I liked how he went into detail about how mentally he was affected by the things that were happening around him, from his loneliness, to him be deprived of a childhood & forced to grow up as a child in show business. It honestly makes a lot of sense why he hung around children, as he was essentially a child in a grown man's body wanting to relive those years, & even live as a normal person.
I didn't like...
I didn't like the fact that he didn't go into detail about his skin changing. To be fair, vitiligo wasn't a normal occurrence, or something to be understood during the 1980's. Not to mention the fact that the media was eating MJ alive at ANY chance they got in order to have a dramatic headline with his name on it. I just wish he had the confidence to be vulnerable with the skin change that he really didn't understand at the time, cause it would've gave him some mental clarity to know that there's people who love him beyond what he thought was a flaw.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
I honestly wanted continue striving to become the greatest musician I can be. I also wanted to do what Michael said he wanted to do in the beginning of his book: Compel people's minds & move someone by simply telling an honest tale about yourself in order to emotionally take them someplace magical. It was a great feeling to read his entire life from start to finish.
This Book made me feel...
It made me feel a lot of understanding & sympathy for Michael. No one will ever be able to understand the lifestyle of being a public forum person unless they were also a famous child star. & unfortunately, unless you were born into those circumstances, there is no relatability. But I definitely hope he is resting well, & his spirit is at ease now that he doesn't have the pressures of the world on his shoulders anymore.
The n/a of this Book...
N/A
I recommend this Book because...
It's an honest look into MJ's life. It gets no more clearer than that. He didn't tell a single lie in that book. There's probably things that he decided to keep out for personal reasons, but overall, he keep it as real as possible.
I don't recommend this Book because...
People are often biased, & don't look at things from an objective point of view. People will usually fan out at the mere mention of Michael. Not realizing he was simply a mortal man who had the luxury of entertaining thousands of people around the world. They won't be able to look at the negative things in his life objectively, & will often fight people to sustain the belief that he was a perfect human being. He was simply a mortal man who was extremely talented.
