Born a Crime is the autobiography of Trevor Noah. He was born to a Black woman and a White man, and was illegal. He and his mother couldn't walk down the street with his father, or his parents would have been arrested. I knew part of Trevor Noah's story before purchasing his book, as I've watched many of his stand-up routines on YouTube. This book is an entertaining recounting of the mischievous antics of Trevor's younger years and his tender relationship with his strong mother. The book is written in a very simple style that made it easy to read.

was that the font was too small for my aging eyes, so it took me a while to pick it up again after I started reading it four years ago. I eventually bought the Kindle version to finish reading the last 30% of the book.

listen to some of Trevor's stand up sketches. He makes me laugh.

I bawled while reading the details of what happened to his mother, and had to stop several times to wipe my eyes in order to get through her story.

tells about how he had to be resourceful and resilient in a world that didn't accept him. He learned many of the African languages to gain acceptance with children his age.

it is very informative. Trevor tells his story in his own humorous style. He is not a writer, so the writing itself isn't dynamic, but what he shares is.
