That Terrible Night Bodhisattwa Parekh Dust bunnies big as wind witches, Then a cold and hard knob. My hands froze mid-reach. The stomach did a clumsy turn. What had I forgotten treasure hide? Pulled it out slowly; an unblinking plastic eye, Not a toy. It was too shiny. It stared up, unkindly. Maybe the cat. Or maybe some other small thing, my sin! Some sort of blemish is having a terrible night. I dropped it back quickly, a tiny cat. Now I sleep with one eye open. Feeling in case it blinks again. Lines: 15 |
