Reading, Writing, Pondering: Big Life Themes, Literature, Contemporary/Historical Issues |
Welcome to the 14th century, in a farflung outpost of the Holy Roman Empire, and a new Convent outpost of the terrrifically powerful Roman Catholic Church. Sound historically dull? Hopefully not so--for this is NOT an ordinary 14th Century Convent. Back after a six-year hiatus.... From NaNoWriMo historical Supernatural novels in Scotland, Michigan, South Alabama and historical horror in Standwood Station, GA-to the Phantom Northern Woods-to singlehandedly refighting the American Civil War-to exploring Social Justice and standing for First Amendment rights under the U.S. Constitution-we deal out horror, Supernatural, Historical, fantasy, mystery, and more. We do not fear outspokeness. And always, always, always, We Do History. Find it here. We write it. We read it. We hold strong opinions. We orate. Meanwhile, whether we're writing or just reading, we love to rave about books and authors right here! |
Did not write at all yesterday, stayed out of the house, too noisy with all 5 grandkids home. Writing now while babysitting. Been very blessed this NaNo, the writing always just seems to flow, kind of an entrancement. Reading: Sarah Rayne, Ghost Song, an incredibly SCARY (as all of her novels!) historical cum contemporary, just a fantastic story-never disappointed with hers Barbara DeMarco-Barrett, Pen on Fire, an excellent writing primer with a very useful bibliography Finished yesterday Terry Goodkind's The Stone of Tears second in the series. Only his second I've read. Mr. Goodkind is an excellent writer whom I rank with my favourite, P.C. Hodgell |

12 noon: 46,014 word count NaNoWriMo, and the Novel is taking yet another unexpected turn! |
I'm really happy with my current progress (Day 14-15) mainly because the writing is finally going so well, smoothly, and quite like an out-of-control locomotive with no brakes! (Smile) At close yesterday, 35,109K; up at 5 this morning, it's not 8 am yet, I have 36,051. Two youngest grandkids sleeping and I am rockin' and rollin'. I KNOW I'll make it to 50K by Friday afternoon, but I won't be done yet with the novel b/c these pesky critters won't finish the climactic seance and move out of state yet lol! So I'll have a lot to say (or more accurately, my characters will) before I actually FINISH the Novel. The more the better! Then I can return to my half-dozen or so other novels-in-progress. |
