Reading, Writing, Pondering: Big Life Themes, Literature, Contemporary/Historical Issues |
Welcome to the 14th century, in a farflung outpost of the Holy Roman Empire, and a new Convent outpost of the terrrifically powerful Roman Catholic Church. Sound historically dull? Hopefully not so--for this is NOT an ordinary 14th Century Convent. Back after a six-year hiatus.... From NaNoWriMo historical Supernatural novels in Scotland, Michigan, South Alabama and historical horror in Standwood Station, GA-to the Phantom Northern Woods-to singlehandedly refighting the American Civil War-to exploring Social Justice and standing for First Amendment rights under the U.S. Constitution-we deal out horror, Supernatural, Historical, fantasy, mystery, and more. We do not fear outspokeness. And always, always, always, We Do History. Find it here. We write it. We read it. We hold strong opinions. We orate. Meanwhile, whether we're writing or just reading, we love to rave about books and authors right here! |
Woohoo! I am honoured to have been selected as one of the Star Reviewers this week at
It is my pleasure to credit reviews to Simply Positive, where encouragement and inspiration rule! I credit my impetus to review this week to:
Day 1: 8 reviews Day 2: 8 reviews Day 3: 6 reviews (battling Internet disconnections *confusion* |
I did 8 more reviews today, of some really special pieces. Fulfilled some review obligations (will start on another batch of those tomorrrow) and opened communication with some of WDC's cool authors. All around it was a fulfilling day despite needing to be the doorkeeper for son-in-law's customers, utility folks, and general strange behaviour. Also the 4th day of horrendous rain. The Flint River which runs between our tiny little town and even-tinier-town across the bridges is really swollen and unhealthy looking. Unfortunately the memory of the flood of 1994 is all too present. |
I just completed Day 1 of
Another wonderful entry was
But don't take my word for it: instead, go read all 8 of my reviews on the Public Reviewing Page--and then go read the items themselves! You'll be so glad you did! I'm feeling impelled to point readers to some really excellent WDC authors. I've had the enormous privilege of reviewing each of these folks, and I am a better writer/reader/person for doing so. Do please check out and review: 🌖 HuntersMoon ![]() Boos girl ![]() Lee Thomas ![]() Come on out and read them, review them, and gift them! Thanks! |
Check this out, writer/bloggers and just writers!

Earlier this evening I was so furious I was spitting nails; I'd discovered that my family members, who had suffered a home fire and had been living in motels for 10 days, with their five young children, had been denied church assistance because of a rumour that they participated in a certain unacceptable activity--the rumour first of all was false, because none of them participate in that, and secondly, served to harm the children because aid was withheld when they so desperately needed a home, heat, and security. I was furious..I am still furious about that and spouting out Scriptures about as fast as I can think. Yet, in the midst of all this, and my decision to leave the community, here I am in a warm new home myself, with for the first time in 14 years, an accessible computer of my own (accessible any time, day or night), safety (no fear of fire or flood), in the best home I'd ever lived in. Humility is the Lesson, my friends-humility and gratitude. |
OH! How I miss my desktop PC! But should have it here in the new house and set up this aft, as DSL is already being turned on (and satellite TV for daughter son-in-law and the kids, makes no never mind to me as long as I have books and a PC on which to write! I moved into the new home last evening, as far as living here, still have 3 rooms to move from my camper but rained so hard yesterday we only moved refrigerator washer and dryer. Best house I'd ever lived in by far, I picked a great room: formerly a porch but enclosed with mosaic over cement, windows on 3 sides, French doors, adjoins only living room, great view of street, of side yard, and of extensive back yard. Brought over one cat,the only male.4 cats and 1 puppy yet to transfer. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "A good ghost story needs soul"--Tim Lebbon NaNoWriMo: "The Deer is my Muse." ![]() ![]() Visit

Very thankful that we found a new, much better for us, home on Friday, just one week after the chimney-attic fire. Will be moving in starting tomorrow, we hope, as soon as lights and water can be transferred. Will take days to complete the move, though, as we have a total of 5 adults and 5 children in 3 separate households to move, and possessions are a way of multiplying after 5.5 years (for daughter and son-in-law) and 3/3-4 years for myself. Just thankful we'll have heat now and I'll be able finally to have my PC in my room so I can get up at night and write, and check important sites in the evening (WDC!)![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "A good ghost story needs soul"--Tim Lebbon NaNoWriMo: "The Deer is my Muse." ![]() Visit

Our living room fireplace caught fire Friday evening so we've had no electricity; daughter son in law and 5 grandkids staying in motels. No electricity, no computer access till building inspector validates wiring and insurance adjustor checks house damage. No injuries thankfully! No one home but me and I was in my separate quarters but discovered it in time. |
