A Journal to impart knowledge and facts
July 22, 2015

I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done.

I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them.

I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC.

Vincent Van Gogh said, "If you hear a voice within you say 'you cannot paint', then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced." What is your 'you cannot ____' voice always ragging on you about, and how good are you at silencing it?

I guess it would be about earning money. I have lots of talent, lots of experience in all kinds of fields, people will ask for my services. They will give me opportunities to write, cook, groom pooches, watch children, teach horse mastership and riding skills, and numerous other enterprising activities. But, they won't pay me money. Nevertheless, I don't consider my life wasted. I work for the benefit of my own health and take care of whatever surfaces in my own realm.

Between 6 a.m. and 12 noon I cleaned the living room, cleaned the barn because the storm finally blew through, cleaned cages, brought in firewood, fed outside birds, cats and dogs inside, finished one load of laundry, and started two spreadsheets for tax preparation. Oh, I read 3 chapters in a new book over lunch time. I'm always busy.

I once watched a PBS special about why women in the USA trying to enter the job market after 55 don't succeed. It was not a fun program.

I ignore the situation now. I'm growing older. My children had a mom at home. It created a home life but less money for them as they grew up. I see mothers now juggling jobs and children. They have a difficult life but more money to spend as the children are growing up. It isn't necessarily better just a different life style. Sometimes I wish I was rich because I would start a free maid service for working mothers. The maids would be employed, the mothers would get some free help. I would get the joy of providing a service needed.

K is angry because I don't bring in money. His mother was the major bread winner in his family. His father worked but His mother earned more money as a department head in Verizon. I don't spend enough time with females of my own generation. I'm sure we would have stories to share about this subject.

I've spent some time with Yoga, Tai Chi, and mindfulness so I can silence any nagging dumb voice if I really try. Mainly what matters, is getting up every day with an attitude of tackling just that day's time before me.
