"Prompt Isaiah 38:16-17 16 O Lord, by these things men live, and in all these things is the life of my spirit: so wilt thou recover me, and make me to live. 17 Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back. What does this say to you?" I believe what Isaiah is saying here is the same thing that Peter says in his writing and James says in his. That is that God allows us to suffer because He knows that humans grow when we're in pain. It just occurred to me today that I did not send out the prompt last night. Can the captain be derelict? I guess so! I got good news today. My cancer is in remission and my glaucoma is under control. So I dodged two bullets. God be praised. On the way back from Medical I looked out the port and saw a shining star. (445) writes about faith in
I do pray for Vivian. She is a sweet lady. Let's all get behind her prayerfully. The enemy hates crowds of Christians. Vivian is right in this poem. It is all about being faithful and trusting God in all situations. |
Prompt: James 5:13-16 13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. 14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. 16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. I feel the Lord prompting me to focus on healing for a bit. Over the next few days this is what I intend to base the prompts on. What are your thoughts about healing? There are some doctrines that teach healing is a “sign” gift. It was used by the Holy Spirit to validate the disciples and apostles. They believe in praying for health and healing, but don't believe in praying for instant healing. Others believe in holding healing services and healing ministries. I have heard several different views on the subject. Let's discuss it and see what the Bible has to say about it. Also, what are your thoughts on this passage? I believe it can go both ways and there are scriptures to support that. Paul, for instance, prayed to be healed of his "thorn in the flesh" and God told him no. God's grace will get us through most situations. Then there are some where God instantly heals. It can go either way and is totally up to God. Write about this poem in your Blog entry today." This poem makes me sad. It reminds me of my lost relationship with my family of origin. My parents are both deceased and the rest of my family ignores me. I live about three hours away so I guess I don't blame them. I also was a drug addict for years and I think they think I still am since they are never around me. I am a responsible, productive part of society today. In fact, I am starting a halfway house for veterans. My business associate says we are ready to start seeking grants. "Prompt: Do you study the Bible? Do you know how to study the Bible? If you do, what is your favorite Bible study method? Why? What makes studying the Bible easier for you? What makes it harder? How many ways do you know of to study the Bible? What are they? How often do you do it? Do you think it is important to do it regularly? Write about studying the Bible today. Above I have asked some questions about Bible study. I would love to hear your answers. Or tell me your own thoughts on the subject. I think it it is of utmost importance to study the Bible. God once said through the prophet Hosea that His people died due to ignorance of God's word. It is very important that we study God's word so that we are not ignorant. The Bible study I use is called historical context hermeneutics. I try to study the Bible to see exactly what message the original writer was trying to convey to his audience. What was going on historically then? What was the cultural message? What conflicts or problems did the writer want to address? The second method I use is also a type of historical hermeneutic. I ask myself what message the original listeners would have heard? All too often we approach passages like Matthew 24 thinking Jesus is discussing one thing when He is actually discussing another. Most people do not read Koine Greek which is the language Matthew was written in. So they do not realize that there are Greek hints that indicate it was not the end of the world Jesus was discussing but rather the fall of Jerusalem in 70AD. Many of the themes fit today and I have a brother in my congregation who literally has a conniption fit if I suggest anything by end times with Matthew 24. He has never read the original Greek nor studied it. Prompt: I was cruising the galaxy with Chewbecca and found this planet: (160) Read this item:
Write about this item in your Blog entry today. I love senryu poetry when it is written correctly. It is supposed to take a shot at life in a humorous way such as this one does. What are your thoughts about these verses?" I believe these verses are directed at those who claim there is no God. Only a fool would believe that. People look at my life and the lives of others in my congregation and they know that there is a God because they see His handiwork. I have zero taxed income. Yet I am never broke. What does this mean to you? This is telling us not to be contentious in any situation. When others wrong us we are to remember that we have wronged God a lot worse and He forgave us immediately. Jesus tells us in Matthew 8:18 that we should not even offer prayer until we have made amends with anybody who wrongs us. Perhaps they will not accept our amends, but we are obligated to make them. We are not responsible for the actions of others. We make our amends. Perhaps they were completely in the wrong, but we are never completely innocent. Our part might be getting angry to begin with. We make amends for that tiny part. Most generally, the other person sees your action and they too accept their role, apologize for it, and the relationship is restored. It does not always work out this way, but it usually does. God is a God of relationships. He wants us to get along. Yes. I believe there are a lot of someone's for everyone. Explain these verses." What Solomon is saying is that we are not suppose to procrastinate about doing the right thing. Doing the right thing is an act of love. When we drag our feet we are delaying love. If somebody needs something and it is in our power to give it we give it immediately. We do not make them suffer by doing without. It makes no difference who it is. There are exceptions to the rule. For example, we should never give if we know for a fact we are giving to somebody who will use it for harm or sinfully. I will not give things to addicts. They earn it or do without. I do not want to enable sin. Image #2235152 over display limit. -?- Today in sector 2997.1 we found a rising star. Stormy Lady
Empty nest was difficult for me. I was a single parent, so I was both dad and mom to my son. He started running out of control when he was 14. I moved when he was 15 and let his mom have him. Martha is complaining because Mary is listening to Jesus and not helping Martha prepare dinner. Jesus says that Mary is doing the right thing sitting at His feet. Are you sitting at Jesus's feet? How?" I believe everybody should sit at Jesus's feet. The way to do that is to be in constant submission. Constant submission means forgiving any who have hurt us, past or present. It means to forget what they did and restore the relationship with them. God is a God of relationships. Submission also means doing the next right thing, each time, every time. It means living a lifestyle that others respect and envy. This envy attracts them to God. What is the desolation of the wicked? What does this mean?" The desolation of the wicked refers to when the wicked meet what they have coming. Christians are not to fear when they witness the wicked meeting their doom. The wicked made their own choices and had the same choices we all have. We are not to pity them when the shoe falls on them. It will fall and we will witness it. Not fearing it means that we trust God's judgment and know that it is correct. Write about frogs today from this poem. I always liked frogs. I once lived two and 1/2 hours north of where I live now and winters there were colder and longer than here. What does this Scripture passage mean to you?" It speaks of God being the Creator of the Earth and everything in it. Sometimes I fail to understand people. They can stand around and deny that God exists when confronted by His overwhelming evidence in the universe. Romans 1 speaks of how each person is going to be held accountable for that evidence.
