I'm sorry if I haven't written for a while...

I am so sorry about my lack of output over the last few years (at least that's how it seems), but I have just hit a terrible slump as far as ideas for my writing and taking the time to write are concerned. I also have a poetry collection that I would like to publicize, but ccan't seem to take the time to do it.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I could shake this off? There are things I would like to do, but I can't seem to get them done.O dpm

If you are in a huge slump, there are 2 things I can suggest.

1) Doodle-write. Sort of like doodling pictures, just sit there while you are doing anything else and write luterally anything. Words, even letters, completely random,. however they come. Just get the idea of a writing sensation to come back. And the results? Who cares?

2) Write something concrete. Write down the lyrics of a song, write a summary of a movie, write a list of books you own, write down every word you can think of that rhymes with "rose"... Being meaningless is the entire point. It just gets the idea of writing back. Again, the results do not matter.

Hope that is of some help.
Some unfinished business

Sorry to be so late, but i did have a book launch a few weeks ago. I do have a blurb about the lunch which I have posted in my portfolio, but I forgot to add a pair of websites whhere my book can be [urchased. They are barnesandnoble.com and amazon.com/ "The Blip Side" goes for $11.49 on both sites.
Now, does anyone have some adice on how a retiree who can't drive may be able to promote his book?

pproximately 80 people turned out Saturday for a "Night of Purpose" at AJ
s Hangout in South Elgin.
The program saw the launch and signing of two different types of books by two different authors: "From Orangutan to Rocket Scientist" by local author and business leader ryan Weiss, and "The Flip Side", a poetry collection by Weiss' uncle, Steve Joos, a retired sportswriter currently living in Peoria.
Weiss discussed the purpose of faith, relationship and purpose, as well as his experiences in writing the book, and his life, which included starting a lawn care business at 16.
Joos read three selections from a collection of 40 poems written and compiled over a roughly 25-year period, many of which were published in other areas. The 67-year-old retiree overcame a form of autism to graduate from Bradley University and work in journalism and radio for almost 34 years, including 23 as a sportswriter in southwestern Indiana.
Both books were on sale at the event, with a meal included with the purchase of a signed book. Poceeds from the sale went to Fox Valley Christian Action, one of the four primary organizations supported by A.J.'s, which is located at 586 Randall Road in south Elgin. The restaurant features a low-carb menu and operates with a mission of giving back to the community.

This is what I've got. If you think I need to add anything, let me know. sorry to be late again.

Love,
Steve

P.S.-
It was a good weekend.
Hi! I've just edited an item in my portfolio: there's not much to the edit, but I would like it if you would take a lok and give me some feedback on "The 1994 World Series." thanks. Enjoy.

A players' strike late in the 1994 baseball season wiped out the World Series. Didn't it?

This is not a misprint. Yes! I have added an item to my portfolio! And yes, I will try and enter it in this month's Journey Through Genres contest. It's called "The 1994 World Series" and even if you aren't judging the contest or aren't a baseball fan, I hope you will give it a read and.

Career day Open in new Window. (18+)
What would happen if a teacher suddenly finds herself in the care of some of her students?
You are a third grade teacher. Your claas has just completed writing and reading their essays. The assignment? "When I Grow Up." You become ill and are about to meet them again--only this time, they're doing something else. What? Well, here's a hint. It's "Career Day" amd tjeu aren't just reading their essays anymore.
"Career Day" is the name of lateste posting, which is also my entry in this month's Fantasy riting contest. Hope you enjoy it.
I've added a new item to my portfolio:
Grand Detour  Open in new Window. (E)
This is about a small village in Illinois and its most famous citizen.

Finally! I have added something to my portfolio! One of my last vacation poems, "Grand Detour", about a wide spot in the road in northwestern Illinois that has a very rich history. Please take a look and review it, if possible. Thank you.
I've added a new item to my portfolio:
Goodbye, Francis Gumm--2017 Open in new Window. (E)
A more original tribute to Judy Garland, without copying Elton John as much.
I am back, baby! I've paid my dues, hopefully upgraded and I've tested my upgrade with this post. The poem is entitled "Goodbye Frances Gumm--2017" a reworking of a poetic tribute to Judy Garland. I have the original in my portfolio, but this is the new, improved version: reworked for a volunteer auction to benefit the local PBS station in Peoria, IL, and without a lot of stealing from Elton John. Please read and enjoy, as well as review. Thanks.
Would anyone by chance know of a good poetry publisher? One that doesn 't charge anything and will take work by relative unknowns, even if said unknown is 65 and have an e-collection which hasn't done squat in almost 13 years?

What if I would tell you? Open in new Window. (18+)
My entry for the February Journey Through Genres contest is about saying the three words.

I'm trying to enter this month's "Journey Through Genres" contest with this piece, entitled "What if I would tell you". Even if you're not judging the contest, please give this one a look, You might even be reminded of something.
thanks.
I am trying to find a link to a WDC romantic poetry contest which closes at the end of the month. I would like to submit something to that contest, but may need to use another site. Thanks for your help.

I thought it was the WdC Heart Throb one, but it's closed now. It can help you keep up with them if you click the Plus sign in the upper right corner of the item you want to keep, then it will go to your Favorites. You can even make folders in your favorites so it can go into a specific one. Then, if you are looking for it again, you can do a Search in your favorites and, assuming they used the key word(s) you are searching with, you'll find it...or you can just scan your favorites if they didn't use the same word(s) you used. *Smile* Good luck!
I can't seem to get going on my writing since the first of the year. Anyone know how to help?

There are lots of things people find that helps them break through writer's block, though probably nothing works for everyone every time. Try...reviewing, entering contests or challenges (like mine--"The Contest ChallengeOpen in new Window. *Bigsmile*), reading, people watching and imagining what their lives might be, staring at your bathroom tiles (weird, but I saw this mentioned by 2 different people recently so apparently it works), try prompts and story starters, go back and edit some of your own work, and google "how to stop writer's block" and other variations. *Wink*

Good luck! *Shamrock*
