Back home in Florida, but only til Wednesday. Buz and Kathy have found a new nanny to start June 9, so until then I have the privilege of going back for two more weeks (maybe a bit more). I'm excited. Coming home was rather disappointing in that nothing I had wanted my young adult children to accomplish had been done. My fault for getting my hopes up. The cats missed me and like small children, gave me the cold shoulder for a bit before warming up to me and wanting snuggles. Silly little fur children. Leaving a list for my kids to work on with explicit instructions and consequences. Let's see if that works.

Going to start working on 1,000 words a day in character studies. I posted it as a weekly goal and put it out into the Writing.com community...now I have to live up to it! I want to be able to post that I have 7 character studies done by next Monday goal time.

Now that I'm home I can use Word and see my word count. Can't do that in Notepad, which is what I use in VA on my nephew's computer. Still, going to give it my best shot!

I've been reading Stephen King's On Writing and he suggests writing 1000 words a day on anything just to be writing. I like that idea and want to get started doing just that, but haven't started.

I'm currently in Virginia helping my brother and his wife while they search for a new nanny for their two little boys. Happy to be of help and so well appreciated. I've had an awesome time over the course of the last couple of weeks. The second weekend I was here they provided an opportunity for me to go to Virginia Beach to see my Miranda and new grandson, Garrick. WOW! I had seen pictures and video but hadn't had a chance to love on him in person. It was fabulous. Since it was Mother's day weekend it was all the more wonderful when I had the amazing opportunity to meet and hug my firstborn son, Matthew, who was given up for adoption in 1978. Matthew and I had talked several years ago when Adoptees in Search brought us together, and we've kept in touch through Facebook, but this was the very first opportunity for hugs.

I followed up that wonderful weekend with a trip to Woodsboro, MD to visit with my lifelong best friend Gail. Another totally terrific and joyful time!

I know that I've been a big help to Buz and Kathy, but the blessings I have gotten from this trip are more than amazing. I also arrived in time to see the last of the double cherry blossoms, and some amazing blooms on azaleas and dogwood trees. The cherry blossoms are gone now and many of the azaleas are less than perfect, but soooooo beautiful in my memory! Maybe I can come up for a visit next year when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom around the tidal basin in DC, and the doubles are flourishing in Bethesda.

That's another wonderful aspect of this trip. I was able to drive through the old neighborhood and see the house where I grew up. The changes are astonishing, but interesting. Didn't have the nerve to go up to the door and ask for a tour...another one of those, maybe next time things.
