Closed Open in new Window. (18+)
A short story about a woman pulling off a BIG holiday heist.
Helloween, everyone. I'm sorry to say this, but, the haddonfield series is currently not being worked upon because I have too many things in my life right now. Its not cancelled, just delayed. It will come back. When? I don't know 100%, But it will return. It will...

Nice link! *Bigsmile*
People have been telling me to link my stories so, here it is: https://www.writing.com/main/view_item/item_id/2295333-Haddonfield

Hey, Bendyplayz! Well, I can't argue that that's not a link, but it's not the idea way to link on here. *Laugh* We have several ways to link an item. I'll show you the 2 most popular, an item and a bitem (big item--often the preferred one) link. You need the item number. In your link, it's the 2295333. But it's also in an easy copy and paste place on the item, in the top area, between the title and the description. However, when you type the colon, it should appear automatically if it's one of the last 8 or so items you've created or edited/added to so, in theory, you don't even need the item link. *Bigsmile*

However, you do need curly braces. They are on your keyboard just above the square brackets. They are used for pretty much all code on WdC. There won't be any spaces in your item/bitem link, either, though you naturally want to put a space after the colon. Don't. *Wink*

Here are what the code look like and what the link looks like that it creates.

{item:2295333} = "HaddonfieldOpen in new Window.

I hope this helps! Good luck! You can do it! *Hug1**Smile**Hug2*
Well, I've created a story that could make you quake in your chosen footwear if you are that scared. It's called Haddonfield.

Awesome! Though you have a better chance of folks reading it if you actually post a link. *Wink*

There are 2 common types of link on here. They are the item and the bitem (big item) link--the one that is usually preferred for grabbing attention. *Wink* You need the item number. It's the 7-digit number between the title and the description, if you are in the item. Also, your last 8 or so created or edited items will automatically pop up, so you may not need to copy the item number. *Wink*

As with all code, we use the curly braces, located above the square brackets on the keyboard. I'll use my own challenge (which you are welcome to join, BTW) as an example since I don't know your story's item number. *Smile* Note that there is no space between the colon and the number.

I trust you can see why the bitem link is generally preferred for grabbing attention. *Bigsmile*

To edit your note you wrote here so you can include the link, look at the little arrow thingy in the upper right corner of this note. Click the little arrow thing and you'll see a popup menu. Click Edit Note. A text box will appear below this note. You can add your code and anything else you want to here. Then save it when you are done. If you realize you need to edit it again, you need to refresh the page before you can. Yep, I've discovered that, myself. *Laugh*

Good luck! Once you get the hang of it, posting a link is easy. And it will definitely get you more views. People are lazy. *RollEyes*
I have created a story based on the grandfather of horror...

Welcome to WdC! I know you're not BRAND new, but you're still pretty new. *Wink*

To increase the odds of someone reading it, you should post a link. *Smile* There are 2 main types of links, item and bitem (big item) links. For all code on WdC, you need to use the curly braces, located above the square brackets on your keyboard. You also need the item number. It's the 7-digit number located between the title and description. But if you recently wrote or edited it, that number should automatically pop up when you type the colon as a list of the 8 or so most recently created/edited things should pop up. *Smile*

I'll use my challenge (which you are welcome to join, of course) as an example of how to make a link. *Bigsmile*

I recommend the bitem link when trying to attract readers because it gives more info and is more eye catching. *Wink*

Also, I see you have no fans yet. That means no one has double clicked your plus sign until they see your megaphone as below.

When they double click to become a fan, you are notified and they appear on your fans list, which is why double clicking is best. It helps you keep up with how many folks might be seeing your Newsfeed notes. A single click (they see the finger with the string) only sets you as a favorite and it's private, so not as good. *Wink*

When someone single or double clicks your plus, they will start seeing your Newsfeed notes on their own Newsfeed. You might have noticed your Newsfeed doesn't show much except what you and WdC post. There's TONS more going on. Go to your Personal Newsfeed (the default when you click Newsfeed). Then along the top of your Personal Newsfeed, you'll see "View the Community Newsfeed." Click that and you'll see what EVERYONE is posting (within your rating limit--which is 13+, so you won't see as much as most of us do, but few people actually post 18+ type of stuff, so if you are an adult, consider increasing the limit to 18+ just to see more of what's going on).

When you get to the Community Newsfeed, scroll, Like, comment, and start making friends. Over time, you'll have people looking forward to seeing your comments and they'll double click your plus. And when you see a person you want to keep up with, be sure to double click theirs. *Wink* Some folks, like me, reward their new fans. Some will fan you back. It takes time, but fans are important here like to real life authors. *Wink*
