I am aware of the need for immigration.

Was this meant to be a reply to my comment on "Note: A Turkish man came 15 hours from Turky to USA. He ..." in your own notebook? If so, I was merely replying to the question you posed.

Public Service Announcement:

Yesterday, I opened a new round of "Rhythms & Writing: Official WDC Contest that features the song "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman and Luke Combs, and I forgot to update a part of the forum from last year that still said:

"Write a poem or song lyrics about your own shortcomings and insecurities."

Please note that was a leftover from last year's prompt based on Taylor Swift's song "Anti-Hero." This year, we're back to the prompt being write a short story inspired by the song selection.

The forum has been updated and it's only been up for less than a day, but I'm posting a public note here too just in case anybody's already started thinking of a poem or song lyrics and needs to adjust.

So sorry for the confusion!

Oh great! *Frown* Sorry I missed this post because I just spent half a day on ideas for a poem. Luckily, I'd gone back to the contest to listen to the song again and saw the change before I posted a poem. Maybe you should mention it again... just in case someone else missed it.
ßlueyeʐ - Whoa. You are fast!
Elycia Lee ☮ - Not really. It normally takes all month to write something. I wouldn't call that fast. I had only started working on something.

My nine-year-old son has apparently discovered the "agree to disagree" response to an argument. Unfortunately, he hasn't quite figured out that it only really works with opinions and is a little tougher to use on facts.

Today he asked me what our new steam cleaner is for and when I said it uses steam to clean things like surfaces, fabrics, etc. he argued and said he thought it was to clean dirty steam. I tried to tell him he was incorrect, and he just goes, "Yeah, well... agree to disagree." *RollEyes*

Can't want to see how this argument strategy is going to work out for him long term! *Rolling*

To be fair, there is some ambiguity in the term "steam cleaner."
I think your son has it right.
It's logical. Steam cleaner sounds like a machine that cleans steam

I was running a D&D adventure for some friends last night and it was one of those sessions where everything that could go wrong for the players did. They tried to sneak in somewhere, and got discovered by an employee. A pair of guards walked in on them while they were trying to hide the employee's unconscious form. While they were interrogating their target quietly in her office, they realized they were doing it in full view of people in the garden outside the window.

This was the vibe all night...

... and it was glorious. Peak D&D. *Laugh* We all haven't had that much fun at a game in ages.

D & D--that brings back very fond memories of my first Army assignment in Germany in the late 70's. As one of five or six single Lieutenants, we would get together for an all-night session of D & D. One of the LT's would use the music of Al Stewart to set the theme for and run the game.

I still have several dice we would use in the game--including a 17-sided die.
Jeff
JACE - I have way, way too many polyhedral dice. *Laugh*
The most memorable and fun DnD sessions have been where someone rolls a 1 and/or the DM is on a "TPK" (total party kill) mood. LOL. Glad we're not the only ones that enjoy the Epic Fail sessions.

I'm getting close to being done. Probably helps that I picked a smaller album this year but still, progress if I can actually complete it this time around.
Twelve down, six to go!

My niece gave me some Apes movies, including this War one so I was interested to see your reaction. I had never seen these or the original ones long ago. The War one is the next one I need to watch. They do seem to get good actors.

We're at the halfway point! Six weeks down and six weeks to go for this year's "Musicology Anthology challenge!

Unfortunately life, the universe and everything are getting in the way of me completing it this year. I'll probably save up my entry for next time.

1 year + 1 month 16 days 19 hours should be long enough even for me.
I will enjoy reading the entries! *Cow**Books1*

Are you experiencing a post-"Game of Thrones existential crisis? Not sure how you're going to fill your days now that you aren't frantically writing dozens of short stories, poems, and reviews every day? Looking for a way to ignore your other life responsibilities while participating in another long-form Writing.com activity?

Well then, boy, do I have just the thing for you! *Bigsmile*

This is just a monthly reminder that the current round of "Musicology Anthology still has two months left! If you've never participated before, it's a chance to write a collection of short stories based on the track listing of a music album of your choice! It only runs April through June every year, so if that's of interest to you, there's still plenty of time to enter!

Do you have to base it on a whole album or can you just use a single song? (Highwayman-the version with the 4 singers)

A while back you mentioned a movie called, The Specialist. We watched it recently on Netflix Disk and enjoyed all the glistening star power action from the early 90's. Thanks for that and for being in the Movie Lover's Group! hooves

Didn't see this until too late. Any other way to obtain that MB?
Got 8 of 10, which is pretty good for not watching Pixar Movies in a long time.
Jeff
Massive Friendly Derg - Unfortunately, the MBs were just for the first three to complete the challenge. I'll try to think of some other fun ways to earn that badge in the future, though! *Bigsmile*
