Argh! I missed my daily forum post by about 10 seconds (and it was Day 7! ). I thought I posted earlier in the day, but according to my now-reset daily achievement counter... I did not. Now I'm debating whether to press forward with the other daily achievements, or take a day off and reset everything so I can go back to having them all count up at the same pace... |
Other than "being here" every day and blogging every day, I no longer care (too much stress). I just do what I want and sometimes I get an acknowledgement. |
I know your pain, brother. I, too, try to get those four MBs on the same schedule after a miss. I find it hard to do, though. One would think my procrastination tendencies would easily win out over my impatient inclinations. |
Kåre เลียม Enga - Having logged in for 85 days once and posting on Newsfeed every day for something like 38 days --- and missing a day due to an emotional upset, I became emotionally upset. So, I've started doing as you do. I login nearly every day without even trying. I just enjoy being in the community --- reading, writing, and fortunately no 'rithmetic or everyone would be perplexed. If I achieve anything worthy of kudos, then great. If not, I've still enjoyed my time in the WdC community. Other than that, I just try to be positive and help others when I can. Just like in 'real life'. |
Please keep everyone in Los Angeles in your thoughts and prayers tonight... it's been a devastating day. Wildfires and high winds are the worst of combinations; a lot of friends and colleagues are finding themselves without power, scrambling to find childcare because their kids' school suddenly closed, under evacuation orders (some of whom had to leave on foot because the traffic was so congrested they had to abandon their cars), etc. Worst of all, a lot of people have already experienced catastrophic loss. Friends of mine are currently on vacation in Europe and just heard that they lost their house and everything in it (including their pets) when one of the fires changed direction suddenly and their housesitter wasn't allowed back into the area to clear the house. They're literally coming home to nothing. My family is fortunately far enough south that we're not at risk, but man it's hard to see so many people suffering. |
Thinking of you all out there—being close to something but not directly affected is its own kind of hard. |
Elycia Lee ☮ Happy 2025! - Thanks for asking about me. Annette is right. My place is near the University of Southern California, which is also just a few blocks from downtown LA, so it's safe (for the moment). I'm definitely safe because I left to go back to Alabama last week and got back here this week. My friend staying in my apartment in LA said the sky is hazy, but he can't smell smoke (yet). Thanks for thinking of me/us! |
Starting this year, I've decided to create a trinket series for each of the film and television projects I work on. My hope is to release them the same month as the movie or series comes out, and to include a little fun bit of trivia with each one. Who knows, maybe I'll even come up with some additional use for them if people are diligent enough to collect them all... In the meantime, please enjoy my first trinket in the series! |
I seem to be on a bit of a trinket-creating spree at the moment. You can now earn an exclusive trinket just for entering "The Bradbury Contest" every month! Of course, you'll also have to participate in "The Bradbury" since that particular contest only accepts short stories written for its sister activity ... ... but that's what makes it so fun! There will be an exclusive trinket for all eligible contest entrants to collect every month, and if you secure all 12 Bradbury Contest trinkets in 2025, you'll also be able to claim an extra-special, super-secret bonus prize at the end of the year! January's exclusive trinket is: Head on over and check it out:

I've added new entries to my book, "Blogocentric Formulations" : "2024 Reading List" "December 2024 Watch List" |
While we're on the topic of activities starting on January 1, 2025 (see also: "Note: I'm so excited to finally be able to announc..."), I'm pleased to say that "Blog Harbor" will also be reopening for 2025! I've restructured things a bit; this is now an independent activity that is largely a prompt repository for any blogger looking for topics. I will occasionally run additional challenges and activities as time and inspiration permit... but until then, prompts will be posted monthly for your blogging enjoyment!

I'm so excited to finally be able to announce the launch of a new short story activity and contest I've been working on, which officially launch on January 1st! Please check them out if you're so inclined: I still have to order the exclusive Merit Badges but I think these are otherwise ready to go. If anyone has any questions or concerns, or spots anything that needs clarification, please let me know! I'm posting this a few days early to work out any kinks before everything kicks off in a few days. |
stevengepp - SO, yes, I have managed to rearrange things and have set up a new book for this challenge. Yes, I am keen. I like writing challenges like this. |
Better late than never, the "12 Days of "Christmas"" is open for another season! 12 blog entries each containing a Christmas song and a paragraph... due by the end of December.
|
Oh boy, just exactly when I thought I was finally done with my writing projects for the month! Are there even 12 days left in December I've had my list ready since the first day. Here I come |
Umm... could we have until Epiphany? Jan 6? Please? My Mom celebrated Christmas through then. |
🌻 pwheeler ~ love joy peace - Sorry, the activity ends on 12/31... I know it's not a ton of time, but it's also just 12 paragraphs and 12 songs. You can do it! |
