I've been thinking a lot about the election this morning and felt like I needed to say something, so here goes: Whether you're happy about Trump winning the presidency or not, Trump is unquestionably a chaos agent and the next four years just got a lot more unpredictable, especially with some of the rhetoric coming out of his campaign. While some people welcome that rhetoric and a prospective upheaval of the status quo, there are also many others who are now experiencing extreme anxiety and trepidation about how the next four years will impact their lives and their loved ones. Half of us are relieved today. The other half are distraught. Regardless of who's in which half, each of us has the ability each and every day to either help or hurt others. It's my sincere hope that we all spend the next four years prioritizing people over politics, and making space to care for those who are struggling, even — and especially — when we're not. Let's spend more time affirming one another's inherent value and humanity than we do fighting over our differences. If you have some time this week, it's a great time to tell people you care about that they are loved and seen, regardless of how the U.S. election turned out. |
NaNoWriMo begins in three days, and the "NaNoWriMo Write-A-Thon" is already 25% of the way to its fundraising goal! As a reminder, we've commissioned an exclusive merit badge that will be given to everyone who helps us reach our goal of raising 8,701,430 GPs by the conclusion of the activity! If you haven't signed up as a writer or sponsor (or made a donation yet), there's still plenty of time! Just head on over to the forum and get involved however works best for you!

NEW EXCLUSIVE BADGE ALERT! I commissioned this to give to everyone who participates in the "NaNoWriMo Write-A-Thon" - as a writer, sponsor, and/or donor - during the year in which we reach the milestone of 100 million Gift Points raised by the activity. That could very well be this year if we're able to raise 8,701,430 GPs or more in November! But in order to do that, we're going to need a lot more sign-ups and donations... with only nine days to go until NaNoWriMo, we have less than half the writers signed up that we usually have, and even fewer sponsors and donors. If you'd like to receive this exclusive badge, head on over to the Write-A-Thon forum and get involved!

Back by popular demand for the 16th year... the "NaNoWriMo Write-A-Thon" is now open for sign-ups! If you're planning on writing a novel in November for NaNoWriMo anyway, why not join the Write-A-Thon and help raise gift points for some really amazing Writing.com groups and activities while you're at it? And this year, I have a special goal in mind ... I'm hoping the activity can raise at least 8,701,430 GPs this year because if we can accomplish that, it'll mean the Write-A-Thon has raised over 100 million GPs in total for WdC groups and activities over the years! That's something worth celebrating! Maybe even by commissioning a special merit badge for everyone who helps us reach our goal...

Reopened for the month of October!
Just in case "Barrel of Monkeys" only whetted your appetite for some music blogging, you now have a full month to get 18 entries submitted for Resurrection Jukebox! |
Does Creedence Clearwater Revival count as defunct? Even if John Fogarty is alive and well? |
Amethyst Angel 🍁🙏 - CCR disbanded in 1972, so that definitely counts as a defunct band. But John Fogerty as a solo artist would not be considered defunct since he still performs and has released new music as recently as a few years ago. |
Have you been missing "The Soundtrackers Group" ? Well, we're back with our annual "Barrel of Monkeys" challenge for the last ten days of September! If you're feeling inspired to do some music blogging over the next few days, please check it out. The activity is pretty low key and you can get this fancy exclusive MB if you complete the challenge! Don't miss it! There are still [Refresh to load countdown.] left to get those entries in!

I am aware of the need for immigration. |
Was this meant to be a reply to my comment on "Note: A Turkish man came 15 hours from Turky to USA. He ..." in your own notebook? If so, I was merely replying to the question you posed. |
Oh man that really wasn't cool. I just saw this and thought it disrespectful. No matter who voted for who.😟😔
