| Friends, I feel extreme guilt over my spotty at best login and postings for the past two years. I apologize for the almost criminal amount of times i've logged back in, felt guilty, made a post and then left without a word for months to wash, rinse, repeat. You don't deserve that kind of treatment, those of you who have paid for my work especially. I want to be here, writing for you all. | Greetings, I am writing this right now to let everyone know I'm not dead, I also feel I need to apologize for a few things too, the first of which is for being away for so long. I have no real way to continue this, so I'll just come out and say it, I have hit an all time low with what I and my family and friends believe to be depression. I have had a very stress inducing semester of college and I am trying to sort through my personal life as best I can. I can only ask for patience as I try to deal with this beast in the best way that I can. I feel awful and that I've let a few people down. If I owe anyone a chapter, I will make every effort to get to it as soon as possible, but as I said, I need to take time to get my personal life in order. I will be back as soon as possible. | I may have only known you for 10 months, but I feel like you and I have spent a lifetime together. We've been through ups and downs, helping each other all along the way. I can say with the utmost confidence that you deserve every iota of happiness that this world has to offer. I know things seem really rough right now, but know that there is a light at the end of this tunnel. I love you with all my heart and will do whatever it takes to ensure your happiness comes back. To get fans, besides entering contests, blogging, and generally socializing, one of the easiest ways, IMO, is to hang out on the Community Newsfeed instead of just your personal one. When someone clicks Newsfeed on the left, they only see what is on their Personal Newsfeed. This is only stuff from people they have clicked the Plus sign (by their name) of. Clicking someone's Plus sign means you are becoming an fan or are favoriting them. After that, anytime you click Newsfeed on the left, they will now appear on your Personal Newsfeed when they post in their notebook.
But if you are advertising, you want to have as many folks as possible read your newsfeed posts. This means you need fans. To find fans, since I suspect you are in a niche area, one thing you can do is do a Search for members who are into the same stuff and start posting on their newsfeed (AKA in their notebook) and sending them social emails to start making friends. You can even tell them to click your Plus sign to start seeing what you are posting since you like similar things. Of course, don't do this right off the bat. You want to make friends first, not come across as a salesman.
Another thing you can do is look at everyone who has added to your interactive and cross reference that with your Fan list to see who isn't a fan of you already. Then do the same thing as above, targeting people who have already added to your interactive.
Finally, you can go to your Personal Newsfeed by clicking Newsfeed on the left side, then click "View the Community Newsfeed" on the top-ish part of your Personal Newsfeed. This will show you EVERYONE'S posts. Start clicking Like and commenting on stuff. Over time, when you've been doing this for a while, people will start becoming your friend and will click your Plus sign. Thus, whenever you post, they will see it, even if they are only on their Personal Newsfeed.
