Okay so while working on my novel at school a bunch of my friends get interested and I start putting them in my novel. Suddenly I have like ten people promising them to be in the story when it's published. On one hand it has given me some more ideas that fit the story. On the other it's a lot to promise them this since it's nowhere complete and they all have some idea of how they want to be in it. Am I promising them too much?
Oh, yeah. That sounds like an overreach! You've got to be ready to cut any character that doesn't help your story. Usually it's better to reuse characters rather than have an ensemble cast, also. (BUt that's just a theory I've heard.) Still, right now it sounds like it's working, roll with it and start saying, "I'll see what I can do!"
