| So I'm a full-time mother and part-time school teacher... writing and thinking about writing bubble away in the background on a full-time basis, sucking up pieces of the world that are swimming around me all the time, filtering and puzzling how the different elements fit together for the next writing piece. During the school holidays the landscape of my writing feels so liberating, because there are few parameters limiting my obsession. A typical writing session begins around 10pm and concludes in the small hours - anywhere between 2 and 4am. After a regular 8 hours of sleep, I get up and spend a normal day of family activity. Then return to my desk when the family have retired to the Land of Nod. Works a treat! But we have returned to school term now, so there can be no late nights during the week and writing is pretty much restricted to my 'writing day' (one day each week) and Friday and/or Saturday evenings. On week nights my time is pretty much consumed with preparation and marking. It erodes any time I can spare to jump onto WDC... makes me sad.. but I will keep trying! That is my goal!! |
