Ah, the old trying to lose weight, only for someone to show up with cake and pizza.... Well, a couple of slices don't hurt, just don't get any more afterwards. That's the annoying thing about them point things, as you could eat a lot of meat and vegetables, depending on how they are made, but fruit tends to have sugar, and you can't drink anything fun - only water, as that's free. And then there's the upcoming date with one of the doctors folks like to make fun of, but are also scared of - a real pain in the - AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Thoughts Makes one think. Ah, butterflies. One of the things that folks wait through a cold winter for, in order to see them emerge from cocoons, and fly in the air, many of them in bright colors. There is something about that. Walking down a dirt road, alongside a field of flowers, and watch as the butterflies stop to get a meal for their day. What is it about smiles that interests people? Well, they usually mean that the smiler is happy, with friendly intentions, usually being the key word there, as sometimes, depending on the smiler, the smile is a signal that trouble is about to come for someone. There is nothing quite like a firefly. Now, I could talk about the scientific stuff about how it's the males of certain types of glowworms trying to ask females where they are. I could talk about the cultural references to them across the world. But, I think, that the most universal thing is this - being a kid, sitting outside at twilight, during the late Spring and Summer, and watch as dozens, if not hundreds, of glowing lights drift in the air, blinking on and off, and trying to catch them. Ah, trains - invented about two hundred years ago, becoming very popular for moving people and goods by the time of the American Civil War, and used a lot since then. If an item needs to travel overland, there's a decent chance it was on a train. You will find them being used a lot in Western stories - nothing quite like a train robbery scene, or some such thing, to show off an Outlaw's skills and the like, like in the first thirty or so minutes of John Wayne's Rio Lobo. Even now, you will find them in more Modern timed films, such as 2016's Train to Busan, where passengers on a train find themselves fighting for their lives when the Zombie Apocalypse starts in South Korea - an interesting movie by the way. Ah, Centralia - a town on fire - practically literally. A town to keep in mind to avoid if I ever plan to move, all because some bright fella decided to start a large garbage fire over a large open coal seam. Yeah - not so bright was they. One might wonder why they did that in the first place. Then again, they might not have known how huge the coal seam was, or what would happen. Still, the fact that this fire has been burning sixty-plus years is something to be impressed by - even the worst forest fire is out within a few weeks, especially due to running out of fuel. Ah, the old Battle of the Bulge - it's like we've been fighting it ever since we figured out Fast Food and Sit-Down Entertainment, and it seems to be a perpetual stalemate, and plenty of times where the Bulge is gaining ground. It also gets annoying when the styles of pants change, and you got to figure out new ones, and that can be really annoying, especially if you need to order online and need to wait for said pants to arrive, and hope like heck that said pants fit afterwards, and all that sort of trouble. What is it about cheese that folks love? That is a very good question. Well, a number of them have a decent shelf-life, and can taste good for like a month+. They also have a bunch of different flavors, depending upon where they are from. Pair them with some salted meats, like salami, and you got one of mankind's oldest forms of snack food, which can be eaten on the road, in most any environment. Even now, there's something about getting a block of Colby Jack, some Summer Sausage, maybe some salted-buttery crackers, and a nice sharp knife to slice the meat and cheese. Ah, figuring out where to store wine. I'll be honest - I prefer a sweet wine, like a Sangria, or other fruity tasting sorts. (That also applies to other alcoholic beverages as well - I don't like the "strong" tasting sorts. I'm also the sort that tends to polish my stuff off reasonably quickly, like within a week or two. So, I don't really need a wine cellar or a liquor cabinet - the stuff, usually, doesn't last long enough to need one. The annoying part is when I have some non-fruity sorts that I don't like drinking sitting in a cabinet, taking up space that could be used by something better (to me) tasting. Thoughts I feel like getting a drink, but it's 90 minutes until noon. Spelling and Grammar Since I'm sober, I don't see any issues with spelling or grammar. Biscuits - a simple and warm food that many can enjoy - unless you got a gluten sensitivity, but even then, there are recipes that reduce that issue, like with corn flour based biscuits. The problem with giving out free food these days is that you will have those folks that are overly picky, like if someone decided to hand out free hamburgers - as in just a beef patty slapped between two pieces of a bun, and had given out a packet of ketchup and mustard as condiments - you will find someone demanding vegan burgers, asking what the fat content was, to have lettuce, tomato, pickles, relish, onion and mayo added to it, and not one of them is getting the fact that all they are getting is the beef patty, the bun, and the ketchup and mustard from the donor's good will. Ah, Easter - one of the many days that give out candy to kids, and then you're waiting until like Halloween for more.... maybe some in July, although this might depend upon where you are in the world. In my family, we usually go over to my Grandma's, plastic eggs filled with candy and such are scattered all over the yard, kids go after them, collect as many as they can, open them, get their candy, money, slips of paper that are exchanged for bigger prizes, and then there's the lunch/dinner. Ah, listing movies that you recently watched. Most recent "New" movie for me was "GOAT", which was entertaining, had a number of funny moments, and, well, made one feel good at the end. Then again, I hadn't seen "Bad Guys 2" or "Zootopia 2" in theaters, and I've yet to fully watch them on Amazon Prime. Personally, one movie I wish I could locate more easily is "Hoodwinked!" and "Hoodwinked Too!: Hood vs. Evil", but they aren't on a streaming service..... Then there's a few movies I wish folks would make - "Sly Cooper" as well as a Live-Animation Disney "Robin Hood" (I wonder how they were going to make the characters). Well, who knows. An interesting poem to think on, talking about the various tools we have, and how we can use them for peace or war. You talk about how we, as a species, need to choose peace over war, or else it could lead to our ruin and destruction. The problem is, ironically enough, a lot of things we have made, and use on a daily basis, came about as a result of war, or even the fear of war. For instance, a lot of medicine has come about, or was improved upon, because military doctors were trying to keep wounded and sick soldiers alive. This is true for a number of other things. At a correctional camp for juvenile delinquents, there is a heavily polluted lake, which mutates those that swim in it. After a few become mutated, and eventually escape, it soon becomes a race against time, especially when it's found that the Warden isn't going to try to rehabilitate the rest, as the escapes, and other delinquents, try to get ahold of someone to come and bring them help. It soon becomes a case of Jurisdiction Friction in more ways than one. What will happen to them? Characters The characters look ineresting. Ah, a very relatable story about someone who wishes to become an author, but never writes things down. Hard to even be a failed writer if you write nothing down. Then, he gets an unlikely muse, and source of inspiration, and soon writes about a slice of pizza that wants to become an avocado. Honestly, how that would happen, I do not know, but it sounds crazy. It would be an interesting comedy to read to the kids, if it was a real story. Then again, we all have stories that we have yet to write down. Might want to work on them. There is something special about writing. Once we get a thought, we try to figure out how to jot the thought down. Then we have to figure out the story. We have to flesh out the location, the characters, the plot, the setting, the time period, and so on. Then, we try to begin at the beginning, as starting at the end rarely makes sense, unless it does. After that, we have to find the right words to write. Once we do that, we can have a whole lot of fun. Let's see - does the main character have any interesting features? What color is the barn? What is the Conflict with the Antagonist? As someone who has run, or attempted to run, a number of contests over the years, it's always nice to have a collection or two of prompts to pick from for folks to base a story or poem off of. It can be real exciting to see what folks create based off of it. Will they make an action-packed crime drama, or will they make something a lot more family friendly? The real question is; how many will take part? Will it just be a bare handful, which only gives out a badge or a 10K Award/Ribbon, if that, or, will like two dozen, or more, show up, and soon 50K, 100K, 200K, or up to the 500K prizes get handed out, along with a bunch of others for participating? There's a lot of animal misconceptions, ranging from what they eat, to who is in charge of a group, and so many more. I would love to see someone make a skit using talking animals, or even anthros, to explain why certain beliefs about their species is wrong. I mean, it would be funny for a rabbit to look at a plate of orange carrot roots, look at the plate holder and say, "Hold it Mac - I don't eat that stuff! I eat leafy greens, not orange roots!" Heck, I saw one of those caricature things, a while back, where someone was complaining about a certain scent, stating that either a skunk was around, or someone was smoking some wacky tabacky - make a guess as to what was on the other side of a fence, away from the speaker, and what they were doing - it was funny. Winning a radio contest involving what you'd do if you had an alligator as a pet, and the reason you won was because most folks ideas were not safe to say over the radio? I wonder what stories those guys and gals had been reading? I hope it wasn't any of mine - Lol! . Still, I know a thing or two about winning radio contests - I got a free pizza a few times, one was because the song they had folks listen to was one that I enjoy - "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue" by Toby Kieth - I enjoy his stuff - Just the opening note, and I blurted it out, made the call and I was the lucky caller.
