Hello Ida,
I like your poem! It reminds me of poetry I would write. There is a depth of emotion, I can certainly feel the longing and desire you have for the subject of your poem. It is romantic and wistful. I can relate to such feelings, and it’s good to be able to express them through poetry. I hope you continue to write!

I like your poem MaryAnn :) It is short and sweet; I like the use of rhyme and the way you incorporated the different colors in the first stanza to describe the night sky full of stars.

I grew up in the city where the tall buildings would often mask the stars in the sky. I now live in the suburbs, and one of the great things about it, is being able to enjoy the twinkling stars at night, unfettered by skyscrapers! Lovely poem indeed.

R.L. Blanchard,

I enjoyed your poem. I found it to be very probing and insightful; I can see that you care about your students. The poem has a sense of uneasiness as it relates to the future of the students, but ends in an uplifting attitude. I enjoyed how you have written a poem about your work/students, something that is a part of your everyday life, quite interesting.

Lynne,

This is an intimate poem, and I enjoyed it. It leaves a mental picture of the expression of love; provocative, yet sensitive. The only thing that was missing here was a title, yet it does not take away from the depth of feeling of the poem.

Very nice, you have allowed the reader to enter into your private world of love!

Kings,

I really enjoyed this poem Unabashedly displays a reverence for God. Poem contains depth of emotion, and a sense of desperation, a sense to reclaim something that has been lost. I very much enjoyed the message of the poem, a message of repentance, a message of redemption.

Love the rhyme, love the flow and the pure conviction it shows for your aim; to walk in step with God again. I like it very much.

Review of Pretty Blue Eyes  Open in new Window.

Hello Kings,

How I love a good love poem. It is short, but says much within the two stanzas. The poem shows wonderment for the love that your beloved shows to you, and a promise for an even bigger, deeper love in return, very romantic indeed. The first two lines drew me in, because of the beautiful imagery, (a favorite technique of my own) I wanted to read the rest, and see where it would go. The use of rhyme is also nicely done here (another method I employ in writing my own poetry) The poem has a nice flow to it, beautiful in its brevity. I also like the use of the blue font, it adds a nice touch. I really enjoyed this poem, and I do love the look of blue eyes.

NayNizzy, I could give you nothing but the highest rating for this poem. Why? Because you let it all out on the line, and you expose your feelings, and grief for someone you love. I have the utmost respect for this; being able to lay bare one's soul and express what is inside. To me, that is what poetry is about. Sure, form and grammar, and things of that nature are important; it is, after all writing.
But for me, what makes a good poem is how much of yourself you put into it, how much of your heart goes into each and every line.
I'm sorry for your loss. I've lost some people I care for in the past few years and it hurts, it really does.

Keep writing, because it does help to ease the pain.

Hey Eyestar :)

I enjoyed your poem. I love flowers, and I love romance. Your poem incorporated both those themes. Each stanza had imagery rich, descriptive language. I could "see" the flowers and where they were found in my mind's eye. I like the way each stanza built upon the other, in a progression of sorts, which leads to the last line: "love always leaves a trail." What a nice payoff to your poem! :)

The only thing I would suggest is giving the poem a title, a title which sets the stage for such lovely writing.

I like your poem very much!
