What kind of dog is Skeet? Nice rhyming. It moved the poem along and that makes for a reader to better enjoy what the author is trying to say. I liked this piece. Where to begin? I liked the story. I really did. Have you ever heard the saying of show not tell or the other way around. I get confused sometimes. You have the basis of a fantastic story here. I admit that. But, you tend to run on with too much description that during places in the story does not need to be there. Over all I enjoyed it. You have talent. No one can say otherwise. NIcely done. Your imaging gives the reader the picture of a cattle drive trying to get them stubborn cattle to move without water. I liked this a lot. Just recently I am getting back into poetry. You hit on some of the biggies in your piece here. It was nicely written. I grew up as well watching those Saturday morning tv shows. I still find them all or most of them on cable and the internet as well. You tube, Westerns on the web and western movie fest are three of my online favorites. Have you checked them out?
