This poem to me is about the emotions a soldier or possible draftee would face during their service. I may be wrong but what makes me think so are the lines “Free to dream-save the world or run like hell," and the poem is about war and choices. I liked the way it began with a statement and ended a question that made me think about the opening statement which was also a consequence. Keep writing more and good luck!
Kids visualize things better than adults sometimes. And we don't give them enough credit. This poem seems like he is opening his eyes up for the first time and understanding mother nature and how she can be devastating and giving at the same time.
Nice poem. It is evident that you admire your poet friend whose work of art in form of a poem, can be compared to a beautiful quilt, whose beauty can be gazed upon again and again much like a poem in print. And like a quilt whose patterns may be similar and intertwined, connected or just a reflection of another pattern or an adjacent unreflecting design whose beauty enhances the quilt as well, so are the words and lines of a poem.
