Review of Stay Inside  Open in new Window.

Awesome read, Matt! I absolutely LOVED this story. It is so dark and gave me chills. What an awful world to live in.

I have an idea for a post apocolyptic type novel that's been stewing in my brain for about six years. I'll probably write it next year.

Great work, again! I read this because WD Wilcox read it and recommended it in the review forum for the Dark Society. Wow. I'm glad I took the time out of my work day to read this.

OH! I love it! What an awesome story! There was a typo in paragraph 4 where you say 'not" instead of "no". Other than that, the story is so coooool! I'm going to share this with my horror group, which, if you aren't already a member, you should join. See M. R. K Author IconMail Icon and email him to get into the group.

Review of Desecration  Open in new Window.
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
Holy COW!!! What a read! There a few typos, but they did not detract from the story, and what a story! It reads like a diary entry, and though it seems Nicholas dies in the end, i think he still lives, since he told his tale to the end. From here, you should go onto an other character, from third person, who meets the now possessed Nicholas, and what happens as the daemon experiences life through Nicholas's dying form. Perhaps the daemon can talk to Nicholas through telepathy, so when Nicholas experiences pain he has to explain what it is. That would be an awesome story. Please consider it!

The story kept me reading, though there was little action and no dialogue. Like I said, it read like a diary entry, or like Nicholas was telling the story to someone else, like a grand child before bed to frighten him... the possibilities are endless!

Great work!

Review of God is a Lobster  Open in new Window.
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
I applaud you for writing this. I went and saw the movie the Golden Compass and because of that, I wanted to read the books. I am part way into the first book (and I love it, by the way). All I can think is, how can anyone who is Christian or whatever religion think that a story that takes place on a different plane of existence than "we" do be corruptive to children? It is a work of FICTION for Pete's sake. It is FANTASY, and SCIENCE FICTION. It is not real.

Here's what I think... anyone in those religions who are boycotting this book must have weak faith if they believe it can change the way they believe or their children believe. I believe in God, oh yes, but I have my own faith that I have put together, which includes a bit of Hinduism, Buddhism, and some other forms of religion. I do believe in God, though, not as a being, but more as a source of power, like a big giant light. Either that or a woman. *Wink**Laugh*

Anyway, those weak in their faith, sure they can FEAR these books and what they might do to their children, the fact of the matter is that these are books, they are fictional, they are made up, and yes, the author may be athiest or agnostic, but what's the difference between him writing a book that may contain elements of his belief and a Johova's witness (excuse my spelling of anything in here) knocking at your door to shove their religion down your throat? What is the freakin' difference.

I love that you wrote this. I was thinking about writing my own rant about how silly people are in believing these books can change a person's religion, but you did it much nicer than I would have.

My hero! LOL.

Review of Soul Eater  Open in new Window.
Rated: 18+ | (5.0)
I'm giving this a five because the suspense of it kept me reading. I wouldn't say it was very scary, but it was thrilling and suspenseful, full of action that drove the story forward. Good work with getting that compelling rhythm in those scenes. I could feel Sam's panic as the shade stole his daughters soul. A perfect place for a soul eater... in a hospital!

I will never forget the episode of Gumby I saw in which the slanty part of his head fell of and formed another Gumby, only it was the evil version and he made mischeif. Though I can't remember what ultimately happened, I do remember that he tripped and that peice of his head slid clean off! It was crazy. I think in the same episode or a different one, there were dozens of little tiny Gumby's running around...

I love the concept of a psychological story contest. I haven't yet dabbled in that genre or what I would think that genre would entail and look forward to taking part in your contest. Here is a donation!!!

I think it's really neat that you keep track of all the previous winners with this item. It allows them to be showcased for a long time. I read a few of the entries and am intrigued by your contest. I may just have to enter next year!
