Baseball, maybe creating the writing style. Which thus creates the query: does nationalism create the writing style. That's one of the more philosophical aspects, I take from reading the narrative.

In terms of the more literal realm, I take that the story isn't one of plot twists, but just love of the territory of baseball and its tenets.

I enjoy the irony, in which the fixer is presented as the central mystery element, yet the twist that the protagonist/narrator is a robot is a good sense of irony.
