interesting bit. i completely agree. i'm a christian, and i also think (after reading your bit) one should realize that even as you learn to have faith in yourself and grow your faith in God, that all the while, whatever we feel about ourselves, that God has and always will have faith in US too. it's incredible to ponder, and gives me personally extra courage to believe/have faith in me and what i can do.
