I truly enjoyed this poem. It was a great portrayal of a young man's desire to live a life of responsibility and worth. Too often teenagers and young adults feel society's pressure to succeed, and follow a certain path merely to appear successful in the eyes of their peers. This poem, which seems to be told from a more mature and experienced point of view, takes a step back from it all and tells those confused youngsters to live for the sake of enjoying life not for the approval of others. Overall this was a well written and thoroughly enjoyable poem.
Aside from a few questionable grammatical moments, this poem conveys some intriguing ideas. It is written from a perspective that seems betrayed and pushed around by a self-centered egotistical society. However, the downside to this extreme point of view is that you generalized all people into the same category. Based on the wording of this poem it seems as though it is one or maybe a few people very close to you that have driven out these feelings of insecurity and uncertainty. To group everyone into that same category shows that you don't posses faith that humanity as a whole can transcend such a selfish existence. Whether they can or cannot is irrelevant, if you wish to find "a sign that it will go right soon," then you must open your heart and regain your faith in the human race. Overall a decently written poem with some very good ideas that I felt you could have expounded upon further then you did.
