The poll itself is brief and not hard. However, I sort of resent that I am doing something and it pops up unannounced in the middle of it. I think it would be better to allow a link to go to it at the top of whatever it is embedded in. Just a little less intrusive. I sort of got frustrated at first. I enjoy doing polls, but like to choose my time.

This sounds like such an exciting contest. The prizes are exquisite. I wish I had known about this one in time. Of course, since I only joined on June 15, it was impossible. I hope it is done again, and I HOPE I find out in time.
I don't usually do much poetry, but the prompts and contests on Writing.com have really inspired me to do more. I even drug out a couple of my old poems and will post them for review.
Way to go, finalists!! Keep up the good work.

I really like the thoughts in this poem. Your rhythm for the most part was good. I had no trouble understanding the imagery. It was good.
One grammatical error I noted was the following line:
"Now still continues"
It appears it should be 'continue' instead of 'continues.'
The following words were not true rhymes. The word endings (s) or (ed) caused the rhyme to be off a bit. Maybe you could word it in a way to eliminate the word ending?
by---sighs
past----lasts
fades---played
All in all, it is a very good poem. It is hard to do a rhyming poem, to me. You did a good job.

This is an excellent example of this poetry form, as I understand it. I just became acquainted with it today, so I may not be a good judge. however, it seems to follow the rules. It is also very understandable, which probaby is hard to do with this form.
Though some of the language is a bit forced, due to the form, it is still understanble. I did have to read it several times to understand it, but isn't that the nature of poetry? It is very good.

This is an excellent introduction on how to do links. It is the best I have seen yet. I understand how to do them from this. I did try adding an image to my sig file this afternoon and couldn't get it to work.
This tutorial was well-writtten, no grammar erros, and was easy to understand. Thanks for helping us newbies. Maybe I can master it, now.

I LOVE the idea of this contest, but I can't determine if it is ongoing or if it has ended. The directions were not really clear about that. When does it open each week (if it is ongoing) and when does it close. I notice it is for 5 days each week, but no entries since 6/06/06. Maybe some of the other posts explain it better, but I couldn't tell from the subject lines if that is so or not.
If it is ongoing, please let me know how/when to enter.

I continue to find new things on this site. I like the idea of rewarding for numbers of reviews each day. It is very time-consuming to do them, and it makes it easier to do if you know you are getting recognition in this way.
I don't know how one would cheat the system, but hope it is not some way I would inadvertantly do so. The article doesn't state how cheating occurs, probably so as not to give anyone ideas, but I would hope the person thought to be cheating would have the chance to explain/defend themselves. Other that than, the article seemed very self-explanatory.

This is good. I am losing my brother, whose prognosis is only weeks left, so it was especially poignant to me.
The only criticism I can see is that the symbolism gets in the way of feeling a bit. I know that is the intention, but I feel it was just a little too vague in places.
This is good writing. Keep it up. I will return here as I move through my brother's remaining weeks.

I could identify with this poem. I used to love to play with shadows, mine and my siblings. I spent hours making shadow pictures. I always imagined that the characters I made had a story to tell. Often, it was a scary story.
In a few places I found the rhythm hard to grasp, maybe a little forced - i.e. the beginning of the first stanza and the end of the fourth.
Overall, this is a good piece of writing. I love the imagery - the personification of the shadow.

This is a great piece of writing. I love your use of language. It is a very interesting story. I would love to hear the rest of it. Hopefully, I will know when you post more.
I did find it a little hard to understand all that was going on. It may be because it was such a short excerpt. I realize it is only a prologue, but I found all the many characters in such a short piece made it hard to get a strong sense of character and plot. Probably, when you get into the main story, it will be much clearer.
Though I had to read this several times to really get the gist of the meaning, I loved the eloquent language.
I really got a sense of the singer. It sounds like someone I really would like to meet.
Is this singer modelled after anyone you know? He seems so real, it appears as if you are watching someone and describing them. Very good. It flows with rhythm.

I can barely wait until I have been a member 3 months to join this. I will be anxiously waiting.
I am a new member (just today) and am amazed at all the resources and encouragement available here. This is just one of them. You have made me want the 3 months to pass quickly. I have to get something in my portfolio quickly.
This information is just what I was looking for. I had seen a chart of how many points it took for each membership level, but couldn't find it again. I am going to have to use points to purchase at this time, as I was hospitalized for 3 weeks, then got out 3 weeks and subsequently had a car wreck and was bedfast for 2 more weeks. Missing 6 weeks of work is costly!
I love this site. Today is my first day here, and I have been on it almost all afternoon. I am so glad I found it, and so glad you gave such a good explanation for how to buy and keep membership, and how to prevent losing portfolio entries. Thanks so much.

Great piece. I can so identify. Not only did my husband do so many of those (now my ex, but not for that reason), but my children now do them. They are 16, 18, and 20. old enough to know better. It is extremely frustrating. I really identified. I caught myself saying, "Uh-huh," the whole time I was reading.
This is an excellent resource. I am just frustrated that I don't have the time at this moment to peruse all the links. I do plan to come back to it (I hope). I marked the author as a favorite, and hope I can find this particular piece later so I can check it all out.
I am so confused about how to do all of this, but plan to spend some time learning. Thanks for the help.

This is an excellent commentary on reviewing. I have reviewed many works over the years, but never have understood the method and the importance of a good one until I read this article. Thanks for giving a heads up. It really dealt with the idea of beinging informative, helpful, and on topic so well. I often feel like I am falling short in a review, and this helps me stay on track.
There were no typos that I noted, or misspellings, and was an excellently structured article. I really have no suggestions for improvement.
This was an excellent piece to help a newbie like myself. I was very confused about how to rate so that I could help others, but at the same time not be a discouragement. I feel since I am new to this site (but not new to reading, writing, or reviewing) I might be doing it wrong. I have printed this out to use as a guide, as well as your Comment-In-A-Box. I didn't see a place to rate that one,but it was excellent as well. Thanks for helping us who are new to all this.

An excellent piece of writing. There were no errors evident that I found. It really helped me understand the reviewing process. I wish I had read it before submitting my first two reviews. I have printed a copy of it and plan to keep it by my side as I review other works. Thanks for a good job. I especially love the links to other articles.
