A excerpt of a future horror story. |
"Hello?" I called into the darkness, "Is anyone there." I had no idea how I had gotten seperated. The others had been with me. It was only a moment ago that I heard their footsteps. Then, strangely their footsteps just stopped. I reached out, but had not felt where I was certain I had seen them. The eery silence made me uncomfortable. "I should have never come here." Suddenly the air had changed. It now held an unbearable heavy scent. I felt as if it was suffocating me. It smelled rotten. Quickly, I covered my nose with my shirt sleeve. The best thing to do was to keep moving. I carefully took small steps forward, careful not to trip on anything. As I felt my way along the cave wall I couldn't help but notice that the smell was only getting stronger. "What is that?" Then, I heard a sickening sound. It was the sound of flesh being torn and chewed. However not in the way that a human would, but in the way a wild dog did. I slowly started to back away from the direction I had been heading. The floor beneath me suddenly collapsed. I fell and landed roughly on something sharp. I noticed light beyond my eylids as I opened them. I looked at the surrounding area. A scream froze in my throat. thousands of bones were scattered everywhere. Some of creatures I had never seen. To my horror among the bones was 3 protruding human skulls. I carefully picked one up and examined it. Dents covered it in a pattern of teeth. Not ordinary teeth however. It looked as if there were two long top canines. Similar to a saber tooth's. Yet, it seemed as if a beak like structure had been in between them. The bottom jaw marks resembled any type of dog. The one difference, however, was that the bite mark was a foot in diameter. It seemed likely that the creatures jaw would unhinge to fit larger things in its mouth. I was suddenly startled by a doorway with dim light showing through it. The thing that startled me was a shadow creeping along the wall beyond the door. There was nothing normal about that shadow. By it, the creature it belonged to would have to be as big as a pickup truck.......................... |
