a story of a girl and her fall |
I had woken up totally psyched for school! Just another perfect day, perfect for flirting with Jayven that is! Jayven is this totally hot guy who all the girls at school completely slobber over; and I mean completely! He’s so hot! He’s so smart! He’s so funny! He’s so hot! He’s just so –so perfect! I could go on for days and weeks and months and years on how absolutely awesome Jayven is, but this was the day that he was a out to ask me out! -Or so the rumors had been. So naturally I got my hottest outfit from my entire wardrobe, painstakingly apply all my make up, and of course rehearsed my lines! “Oh, Jayven! Of course I’d be your girlfriend –to love and to hold, to cherish forever till death do us part!” Everything had to be just perfect for the perfect guy, for the perfect girl (me!), fro the perfect couple to be! Sooner or later I somehow managed to get to school and it was such a perfect day. It wasn’t too hot or too cold and thank god! –It wasn’t humid! Other wise my hair would have been a frizzy mess! There was no space for mistakes and I rushed to find my friend Karen just to be sure. “Oh my gawd! Gene,” she had said, “ you look absolutely gorgeous!” This, of course, was a typical comment for the most popular girl in school, and routinely I shrugged it off. “What’s the talk Karen?” “Oh! -Well, I really had to run around all morning looking for people to drain info from but I finally got a hold of Dave who said he had seen Jayven put a red rose in his locker around breakfast time. You do know what that means –right?” We both squealed and giggled at the exact same moment just unable to hold in our excitement. First, second, and third period had gone on pretty boringly, same old same old in other words. But fourth class is when I got to see him! The bell had just rang and I practically jumped out of my shoes fighting to get to that class! “Look at her,” I heard some random girl say, “I’m so jealous! She’s gonna get Jayven and…” I really didn’t care to listen to the rest of that pathetic little chat I’d heard it all before. She’s so pretty, I’m so jealous, she’s so popular, she gets any guy she wants…I know –I know! I had especially heard these things today in the halls. Karen must have done a good job spreading the news or is it just that good news spreads fast? Who cares! I’m going to be Miss Jayven Harker! There is just no getting around it people are and will always be jealous of me. How can I help it? I was able to reach my class a little earlier than usual, which was actually kind of awkward. I tried my best to make a quiet entrance and keep it unnoticed, a tough thing on my part. It was only three students and the teacher in the room and, man, was it deathly quiet in there! Peacefully and elegantly I took my assigned seat. “-Hey there gorgeous… how are you doing?” “Eeep!” I had actually meant to not say that out loud but Gerald the Geek was a force to be reckoned with! I’m not exactly sure what that guy thinks but I also really don’t want to know… “What do you want Gerald,” I sighed with complete anxiety. I could not get over all those freckles on his face and those ridiculously think magnifying like glasses! (Maybe a bit of an exaggeration.) But I was waiting for the hottest guy who ever walked the planet not gross, scrawny Gerald! “I was going to offer you my services I figured that you might need a ‘study’ partner since your grades have been dropping slightly in this class.” Ick! Total grossed-outness! “Ugh, and you actually noticed my average go down six points?! No thanks! -I think I can handle this on my own, ok?” “Well, just don’t be afraid to ask for anything at all, okay Gene?” Suddenly, at that exact moment when I thought I was going to hurl, he walked in…Jayven! I forgot all about Gerald the Geek as he shrank away and Jayven walked straight for me. I know everything about Jayven his favorite color, his favorite car, his favorite number (which just so happens to be his baseball number), and of course his average strikeouts an inning. He is the star member of our state qualifying baseball team he has single handedly turned our cruddy team into something we can all admire in the past few months. Impressive! He stopped right in front of my desk and as I had looked up at him I remembered all the reasons just why I loved him so much. He had long thick brownish colored hair, big dark beautiful eyes, and such a nice body! He’s so athletic! “…So Gene, what are your plans after school?” “Oh,” I blushed, “I’d probably be heading towards the mall…” “-Uh…do your parents know your going there -cause” “-No, they usually let me go just about where ever until about dinner time. –Why? Want to go?” “…” That was another thing about Jayven he was also kind of shy despite his complete hotness! “…Uh, nah. I had some other plans that I was actually gonna try to fit you into. –But if you’re doing something…” “No-no,” I interrupted, “I’d love to go some where with you!” “Then meet me behind the bleachers outside –after school.” “Okay.” We stared into each others eyes completely romanticized with the other. But then the teacher ruined the moment by making Jayven go sit in his seat at the back of class; while, I stayed alone in the front. Those nosy teachers they’re just jealous because they aren’t young and in love like us! -Pitiful! Afterwards he walked me to my next class and we giggled the whole way. The rest of the day was pretty much a blur. I couldn’t concentrate on any of my classes at all. All I could think about was Jayven and all the moments we’ve had that had led up to this one. All those times that I had shamelessly flirted with him or playfully teased him. But none of that matted any more because now I t was the releasal bell and my steps turned toward the bleachers. It was kind of a long walk though, but it was all worth it. When I arrived he stood there, just like he said he would, behind the bleachers, leaning against a tree breathing in the scent of the rose he was about to give to his beloved –me. “I’m glad you showed up,” he smiled smiling the sexiest smile I’ve ever seen him smile. I smiled back giving it my best shot, “and you think I wouldn’t?” He was wearing a muscle shirt and some shorts his usual baseball practice outfit but it totally showed his luscious biceps, muscular shoulders and toned legs. He chuckled to himself, “That’s right,” he reached for his favorite baseball bat on the other side of the tree, “ your too stupid to be suspicious…” That totally crushed me! I couldn’t think of what to make of it he must have been making a joke. After all he was still approaching me –smiling. I gave him a weirded-out look, “Um…what?” That only made him laugh. “Jayven,” I said, “why did you ask me to come all the way back here?” “I asked you back here because here no one will hear you scream,” he said holding a crafty smile. “Jayven! Are you trying to rape me!” I laughed slyly; it wouldn’t have been considered rape! HA! Silly boy all he had to do was ask! “No, that’s not it.” “Then what is it?” I asked playfully. “I’m gonna kill you.” Now normally I might have laughed but he said this with such conviction that I couldn’t have possibly helped but to question him. But I never had the chance. He gripped his bat and swung at my head. I hit the ground hard; everything was swimmy. My head felt very hot but I soon realized it was from my own blood that was spewing out. “B-but I know…your favorite color- red….” Jayven stood over me with that same crazed look and laughed. “Do you even know why that’s my favorite color? It’s the same as blood! Honestly I hate people like you! So conceited and self centered…not to mention stupid!” “B-but,” I stammered, I was desperately trying to change this situation. Was this really happening?! What happened to my perfect world! I don’t want the truth! “Y-you…..asked, you laughed…-with me. The rose…?” To my complete terror he laughed…full-heatedly. “Did you even pay any attention to the things I asked you? And the whole act I had put up with you? -What about it?” He put his attention back on the rose he had momentarily stuck in his pocket to swing his bat at me and once again began to breathe in the rosy scent. “The rose,” he said, “is for your grave.” I was stunned. I bet people aren’t jealous of me now, but I never screamed. I never felt a thing; maybe I was dead before I even died. All I really know is the taste of blood and a broken heart. |
