I cast my soul out into the night, desperately searching and seeking the light
Darkness smothers, a velvet blanket wrapped tight, where oh where is my god tonight?!?

My breath is taken, my heart is shaken, I cry out for you
The enemy hounds me, I beseech thee, is your love not true?!?

Be still my child and do not weep...for I am always near
Believe in my love, my promises I keep, your cries I always hear
If not for the pain and the strife while you seek
Then your faith untried would surely be weak
