How do you tell a man
Who promotes an image of 'Black Bart'
That you can see the gentleness in his touch
The softness of his heart?

Who, with a glance, could stop a lion
Pacing, in mid-stride
Yet those same eyes can melt a heart
Like mine, with ice inside.

A man whose demeanor commands such respect
It's literally felt as he walks by
But who holds his breath, in silent awe,
As he watches eagles fly.

His hands show a lifetime of working
He let the easy life fall long ago
But his sweet caress as he holds my hand
Is a heaven that few people know.

How do you thank a man
Who's healed your spirit and warmed your heart
Nothing seems adequate, so I'll just say
"I love you, my Black Bart"!!
