Poem about abusive versus selfless behavior and the importace of forgiveness. |
Humble visions in contradiction Stress from wicked domination Light the fire of sweet ambition Take what quenches my fixation Let me stand before the day, Present my tired flesh to flay Flog my back with toxic quip Stretch your tongue into the whip Close my eyes, and watch me smile Grit your teeth in safe denial Nothing binds me but my will Thrash about until you're still Expend your strength to feel the guilt Watch the pure begin to wilt Let me repent for your behavior Let me be your second savior Words know not to justify Corporally mortify Pray upon your second altar Speak the words and never falter Shed your tears and let them fall Forget the voice and hear the call Rest your chin upon my hand Raise your eyes to where I stand Place my hand upon your head Standing in His gentle stead Confess your anger unto me Sate me with repentant plea Feel the burden leave your back Compensating for your lack Of faith in remedies abstract Confuse the mundane for the fact Hate me only for the day Then love me for my patient stay I do for you, to set you free, So take your hatred out on me |
