Our last moments recalled, romanticized and delusional, fading to cryptic memory.
The last time I saw her
we sat in a bar
at a table away from all others
two among strangers, but
memory fades

We talked and talked
nearly an hour, or more
but what did we say?
What can I remember, except
'You're different'

I didn't question the remark
But I wondered
on that long journey home
through a blizzard
a white out

I wanted to ask her later
what she had meant
Different in what way?
What made her notice the change?
But she's gone

Memory fades
The last time I saw her
'different' somehow
a white out
She's gone.
